As far as I know they are not involved - yet.

If we can get them involved, that will be great. These families really need help.
Laura Chinchilla visited the site yesterday to speak with "afectados", and made a variety of promises.
Needless to say if these families wait for the promises to be kept it will be sometime before they receive any relief.

So far we have set up a group/cause on facebook.

I have agreed to receive paypal for the time being, but obviously a more effective and efficient method to collect and distribute the aid would bring the relief to these families faster.

Anyone with suggestions, ideas, or the like, please chime in.

You have no idea how bad it is.

None of the photos really allow one to wrap their brain around the damage.

a couple of houses are literally gone. People are waist deep in mud, tree stumps, rocks, etc.

The more who can get involved and help, the better.

I would like to help but I have to agree with nes who is this guy with 1 post coming in asking for money. Let us know if open arms is involved would feel more comfortable making a donation to them.

I am not asking for money.

I am asking those who can to help those who have been affected. Nothing more.

if you can get a larger charity involved that would be great. My almost 12 years here in CR have taught me that if we wait for big charity or government to help anyone, it simply never happens and it is always us small guys who make the biggest impact.

If you are uncomfortable about the safety of a $10 or $20 or $100 donation, don't do it through me - go on up to Salitral and take a look for yourself and talk to the few families who lost everything or the many more who have lost a lot and help them directly, or give them a donation directly.
