Lack of experience didn't stop the Rockies from getting to the ship.

Lack of experience didn't stop the Indians from getting to the ALCS and having the BoSox on the ropes.

An unreliable offense might ultimately be their undoing down the stretch, but if they find a way to get into the postseason, a lack of experience isn't going to be the reason they get bounced.

this is a great move for the yankees if true. washburn is a good pitcher with some big game experience at the front of the rotation (at the time). obviously the sabathia and harden moves make the major headlines and understandably so. but this is the kind of move that could payoff huge for the yanks when it comes to winning the east.

Well put as usual and very accurate as usual.

good counterpoint.
although in cleveland's case, completely shitting on themselves in the final weeks of the season 2 years ago played a big role in toughening them up for playoff baseball last year. indians bathed in feces during that homestand against tampa and chicago with everything at stake a few yrs ago and that wasnt forgotten. red sox also seemed to have a 'calm' about them when they dug themselves a hole against cleveland last season.

I hear ya. I personally think that experience has more to do with getting INTO the playoffs than it does once a team actually makes it. C.C. Sabathia, Fausto Carmona, and Paul Byrd sure didn't give a fuck how experienced the Yankees were when they eliminated them.

But at the end of the day, generally speaking, talent reigns supreme.

NYY acquisitions of late look damn good to me, but I don't know how good the prospects they gave Pitts actually are.

It isn't so much the experience as it is approaches at the plate in the post season and it just so happens that the usual evil empires that always make have the type of good patient hitters that are tough in the postseason. Even boston has young inexperienced guys like pedroai that have good approaches.

Everybody and their brother is reporting that the Yankees are close to as deal with Seattle for Jarrod Washburn.
It would seem to make sense. Washburn is in Toronto at the moment and is scheduled to pitch tomorrow against the Blue Jays. Put him on a plane and send him out against the Red Sox tomorrow night.
But Brian Cashman said just now that no deal is imminent. “You can sleep easy tonight,” he said.
