I just want to inform everyone or anyone on this forum about a problem getting paid by the greek offshore book. I fund my account thru western union I deposited $$ to my account. It was accepted and picked up by Greek. I wager on the money that I deposited and I won a pretty fair amount. About 4 days later I requested a withdrawal and they "FROZE" my account because they said western union rejected my deposit which I made 4 days earlier!! They asked me to call western union , which I did and they said the funds were available. And when I tracked the transaction it said "ready for pickup".
I asked customer service at the greek "how can you accept my deposit? Let me bet on it for 4 days and AFTER I win tell me my deposit was rejected? TRUE STORY .. going to another offshore .. BEWARE ... and Good Luck

Joe thanks. Gonna look into it. Any problems with money gram?

No problems with the three times I used MoneyGram, the last time was June of 2008. I went to my bank and did it.

Sports Book Review seems very good in handling these types of disputes. I will give SBR details with dates and start communicating with TheGreek by email if you have not already.

Weekly updates on the forum may help or hurt. You don't want the book to get upset with you and the book doesn't want negative comments about them. Upsetting the book could slow your payment down.

I think this has to do with a roll over more than a Western Union problem. If it was a Western Union problem, than TheGreek should not have taken your bet. I know, probably your thoughts exactly. TheGreek, I believe is consider by many the second best online book just behind Pinnacle.

This has to be an isolated incident. I've been with THE GREEK 15 years and NEVER a problem. FASTEST PAYOUTS EVER!

Why the heck are you using Western Union? :think2:

Read this language in Western Union's Terms & Conditions found at:

http://corporate.westernunion.com/termsofuse.html

Sender and Receiver represent, warrant and certify to Western Union that its and their use of the Services shall not in any way, directly or indirectly, (a) violate any law, statute, ordinance, contract or regulation, including but not limited to any law, statute, ordinance, contract or regulation relating to money laundering, illegal gambling activities, support for terrorist activities, fraud or theft, and/or (b) violate any of the Terms and Conditions of use.

There are alternative funding options for your Greek account!

NOTE: Currently, MoneyGram and NetSpend (https://www.netspend.com/) are aceptable - NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER!

Also, for your own edification, please familiarize yourself with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006

http://www.gambling-law-us.com/Federal-Laws/internet-gambling-ban.htm

Accepting Funds for Betting Banned
Section 5363 contains the basic prohibition of the new law. It bans online gambling operators from accepting most forms of funds to be used by the players to gamble on their Websites. The ban applies to:
"(1) credit, or the proceeds of credit, extended to or on behalf of such other person (including credit extended through the use of a credit card);
"(2) an electronic fund transfer, or funds transmitted by or through a money transmitting business, or the proceeds of an electronic fund transfer or money transmitting service, from or on behalf of such other person;
"(3) any check, draft, or similar instrument which is drawn by or on behalf of such other person and is drawn on or payable at or through any financial institution; or
"(4) the proceeds of any other form of financial transaction, as the Secretary [of the Treasury] and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System may jointly prescribe by regulation, which involves a financial institution as a payor or financial intermediary on be half of or for the benefit of such other person."

Thanks to everyone for the info and help. much appreciated. I was with Pinnacle for years and they were great, hated to see them pull out. I had no serious problem with the greek before this. But imagine how anybody on this site would have felt if after 3-4 days of betting you are told OH were freezing your account because your deposit 3 days ago was rejected.

Just to be clear, The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 doesn't apply to players or offshore books, just financial institutions in this country.

:think2:

Section 5363 bans and and Section 5366 criminalizes the acceptance of funds from bettors by operators of most online gambling Websites. The operators affected are those who:
(1) being engaged in the business of betting or wagering
(2) knowingly accept
(3) proceeds from credit cards, electronic fund transfers and checks
(4) in connection with with the participation of a bettor
(5) in unlawful Internet gambling, which is the sponsorship of online gambling that violates any other federal or state anti-gambling law
Ummm....... "offshore books" = "operators of online gambling websites"

Did you even check out the link I provided? :think2:

US law doesn't extend beyond US borders.

US laws regulate financial insitutions and "money transfering" businesses (e.g., Western Union) based IN the USA and bar them from transfering money to offshore gambling sites.

I've never had an issue with GREK with p/o concerns. I'd say GREEK,PINNACLE,BETJAMAICA,5DIMES,BOOKMAKER all solid books.

Moneygram works securly and quickly imo, but WU has laws to abide by, but never an issue there.. I get p/o's from 3rd partyfinance companies as well from a few books, but they take longer to get paid.

Bodog takes 3 weeksto get cashed, but offer best DOGGIES VALUE, which I love, especially whem those hounds bit hard in SU FORM!!

bET PHX also good through word of mouth, but never made plays through there.

In terms of your issue, polite direct emails work wonders, followed up by phone call if they don't reply in a timely manner. ALWAYS ask for BIG super, then hopefully you bet enough there where he'd hate to lose your $$$,so be strict and angry, but tactfully, then you get no issues from them ever again.!!!

You can PM me b/c been doing this awhile.
