Is it still having all the compatibility problems it was having from before...? If it isn't I think I am going to get the ultimate one... hoping windows will cut me a deal since I have a new lap top but got it just before the free upgrade was offered...

I wouldn't dare install it on anything unless it was brand new. It is EXTREMELY resource intensive & will be slow as hell on anything that is even remotely old.

Actually, I wouldn't install it until SP1 is released, period

Well I have a 1.86 GHZ
1 gig of ram
Pentium M...

so it is new... just not super new but meets all requirments... you still don't think I shoudl getit? It looks sweet and I know a shit load about comps but I feel that I am not educated enough on this to make that decision..

So wait for the first service pack?

I doubt 1gb of ram will be enough-it's barely enough for XP, and that's only if you're a light user. You'll definitely need a high end video card for Vista.

You know it's going to be buggy.....it's always best to wait until at least the first SP. Saves a lot of aggravation.

Ok thanks... they say the requirments are 1GB of ram... for the Vista it is only at max 512 for XP... so I called the people and htey said 1GB would be plenty... for the basic package which i dont want u only need 512... but i wnat the better one...
so i'll wait and take the advice... i've been looking inot it and hte upgrade will only cost me 100 bucks...

thanks man

1gig isn't enough ram as was mentioned. It will run very slow since the pearl search feature takes up alot of memory. You will need atleast 2gigs of ram to run vista smoothly.

MS only "required" 256 RAM for XP, but you know without at least double that (512) it is just aggravating. Same with requiring 1 GB RAM for Vista, nothing but a headache. However, I don't think 2GB will do it for Vista, it will take at least 4 GB to run as fast as XP. How many have 4 GB capacity without major upgrade? Not many.

You're correct....256 for Xp was a FUCKING JOKE!!! It's choking with anything under 1gig, and that's if you're not doing anything. The 4gb prediction probably isn't far off-if at all (despite how absolutely f'ing retarded it is).
