Good thing he only knocked a woman out.

If he would have made some insensitive private comments, he would have been banned for life!

The Ray Rice [Unlink] suspension has seemingly caused an uproar online with fans who feel the two games are not enough for the crime Rice committed. Of course, the crime in question was allegedly striking his girlfriend in an Atlantic City casino. The important word there is allegedly because of the eventual outcome of the case. Ray Rice married his girlfriend, Janay Palmer, the very next day and no charges were filed against Rice after he agreed to an intervention program.
Despite the fact that no charges were filed and the allegedly abused girlfriend married Ray Rice the very next day, the NFL suspended Rice for the first two games of the 2014 NFL season.
With that suspension, double that of any punishment that the courts gave out, the NFL proved that they hold their employees to a high standard. However, there are a lot of fans who feel that he two games weren’t enough. Some pointed out that drug charges carry longer suspensions and that the NFL should have hit Rice, who was not charged with any crime, a long suspension to prove a point.
When Ray Rice appeared on the field during training camp, fans erupted in cheers. On Twitter, many other people blasted the Baltimore Ravens fans for cheering the player after the alleged incident.
Commentary
There is no room in the world, regardless of occupation, for abuse against women (or men for that matter). However, what is bad about this situation is that people, who only know Ray Rice by watching him play football on television, and now even less about his wife, feel they are the perfect judges of how severely he should be punished. It seems the world today deems itself a better judge than the court system itself when it comes to dishing out punishment to people.
In the TMZ world that we live in, people are never innocent until proven guilty. By just watching television, reading gossip sites and getting second hand information, the world has become the self proclaimed judge, jury and executioner of any celebrity who gets in trouble. Even if they are innocent, the world judges them as guilty because of the accusations.
Maybe Ray Rice did strike his girlfriend in Atlantic City. If he did, that is between the two of them – and the real court system that chose not to prosecute him for anything. It is between Ray Rice and the NFL, who chose to punish him with a suspension despite no criminal charges being filed. But, it is not up to people who just sit behind a computer and pretend they know what happened, yet think that they have any say in that punishment.

At least he didn't leave her in a car while he went and gambled.

Sadly, that was Rice's longest carry of the season, and he fumbled at the end.

They must have a tape from video inside the elevator if they have cameras in there........from the video I seen, I didn't see anyone punching or fighting, just Ray dragging his fiance/wife out.

They were both hammered drunk it looks like & IMO, Ray won't serve any time.

If there was a tape, wouldn't it have come out already of him punching her?

If Solange Knowles had been in that elevator instead of Rice's drunk wife, it would have been a fair fight. In fact my money would have been on her high kicking ass...

[h=1]NFL needs better response to domestic violence[/h]
August 03, 2014 12:00 am • Joe Howarth
<aside style="width: 220px; font-size: 12px; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 30px; float: right !important; display: inline;" id="asset-related" class="grid_3 right"></aside> NFL’s mishandling of the Ray Rice scandal, I am calling for a boycott of the Oct. 5 Carolina Panthers-Chicago Bears game in Charlotte, N.C., in order to send a message to the NFL that their response to domestic violence must drastically improve.

I ask for all Panthers and Bears fans to stay home. Don’t sell your tickets. Shred them, burn them, throw them away. Get a refund on your airfare if you are flying into Charlotte, and save your gas money by just staying home. Boycott the game so when the TV comes on, the NFL will see empty seats, and the teams will see poor revenues.
My hope is that through enough work and promotion of this boycott, the NFL will understand why no one showed up to this game. Hopefully the league will work to improve its response to domestic violence and support domestic violence awareness.

No why would the casino release that video? Rice hasn't denied anything. Imagine being accused of hitting your girlfriend when you didn't… he would be screaming from the heavens he didn't touch her. He hit her.

Rice's attorney Michael Diamondstein responded to a request for comment, saying the video posted by TMZ is "not the complete event, but is merely the end result of what transpired."

Diamondstein added: "Neither Ray nor myself will try this case in the media.

"We'll assure the public that when this matter is fully tried and completed, you'll have a better understanding of what happened and we ask the public to reserve making any judgment until all of the facts come out"

Looks like he's a douche bag fact

<section id="module-position-N5AQdeyOEYI" class="storytopbar-bucket story-headline-module">[h=1]Ray Rice apologizes to Baltimore Ravens fans in a statement[/h]</section><section id="module-position-N5AQdezcaGU" class="storytopbar-bucket story-byline-module"> Gary Mihoces, USA Today Sports 10:28 a.m. EST February 13, 2015

Almost one year after his arrest in a domestic violence case, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has issued another statement thanking his supporters, apologizing for his "horrible mistake'' and appealing for forgiveness.

</section>"This is not a farewell or goodbye," Rice said Friday in a statement released to the Baltimore Sun. Attempts to reach Rice's agent by USA TODAY Sports were unsuccessful.
Rice was arrested last Feb. 15 after an incident involving his then-fiancée and now wife, Janay Palmer, in an elevator in an Atlanta City, N.J., casino. Video showed Rice knocking her unconscious with a punch.
Rice, who helped Baltimore to a Super Bowl title in the 2012 season, was cut by the Ravens on Sept. 8 and suspended indefinitely by the NFL. Rice appealed, and an arbitrator lifted the indefinite suspension.
He is eligible to join another NFL team, but he has not yet been signed.
