I know we probably have very little people here that listen to Rap/Hip-Hop But VH-1 (of all channels) is airing a show called "50 Greatest rap groups of all time" Give me a break! Isnt VH-1 suuposed to be like the easy listening radio station of T.V. It makes me sick how T.V. and the media grab on to whatever is hot and exploit it.$$$$

What really gets me mad though is they had "A Tribe Called Quest" at #26!!!!!

heh... watched a little bit of it last night, at least it was well produced. I turned it off after they switched from the flavor of the month 50 Cent to DMX and everyone started heaping praise on DMX. Influencial groups like Tribe never get the respect they deserve, it's all about the mother****ers like DMX that sell garbage by the truckload to the pop-rap loving masses. DMX isn't that bad, actually, but he can't hold Tribe's nuts as far as I'm concerned. It's wasn't about the lyricism or the art, it was about who's got the most catchy pop hits. Reminds me of the grunge frenzy in the mid 90's when MTV had the Red Hot Chili Peppers in their Grunge video countdown. ****in' idiots.

Oren1 - I could not agree more... I always thought that If I had that many people listening to my songs, why not say something meaningful or useful? I dont understand it? why would you want your music to soundlike everyone elses? The same goes for the videos!! They are almost all shit! The things that children dont understand is that in most of the Videos all the cars and jewlry that they see is rented for that video shoot only. You got all of these rappers talking about a bunch of shit they dont got! Which is a total violation of what Hip-Hop really stands for. It makes me so mad!

Woohoohoohoohoohoo...
Crank up yo' speakers!

[Stic.]
To all my (niggaz)
Every hustlin (nigga)
Strugglin (niggaz)
Revolutionary (niggaz)
Gang-bangin (niggaz)
Chain-gangin (niggaz)
Tune yo' frequency...

I refuse to be a stereotype in ya box
Never wanna try to be somethin I'm not
I'm just a nigga from the block, if you got it twist it
Stay blowin on green, if you got it, twist it on up
DP's givin a **** - R.B.G.'d up in some gangsta chucks
Throw ya fist up homie if ya know what's up
All my comrades puttin in soldier work
We rollin dirty wit it, fully dedicated
So real that the radio'll never play it
But that's cool, the enemy supposed to hate it
Freedom ain't gon' come til we regulate 'em
That's why I'm in the dojo, not just for the video
Really though, we really got beef with the po-po (woop-woop)
Never know when they gon' put you in a chokehold
This is for you new niggaz, holdin for the radio

[Chorus]
Turn off the radio!
Turn off that bullshit! (freak-freak y'all)
Turn off the radio!
Turn off that bullshit! (freak-freak y'all)
Turn off the radio!
Turn off that bullshit! (freak-freak y'all)
Turn off the radio!

*phone rings*
[M-1] People's Radio
[Stic.] Yo hang up, that's the police

[M-1]
What's on the radio, propoganda, mind control
And turnin it on is like puttin on a blindfold
Cuz when you bringin the real you don't get ro-tation
Unless you take over the station
And yeah I know it's part of they plans
To make us think it's all about party and dancin
And yo it might sound good when you spittin your rap

But in reality, don't nobody live like that
You wanna know what kinda nigga I am?
Lemme tell you 'bout the nigga I'm not - I don't **** with the cops
Platinum don't mean that it gotta be hot
I ain't gotta love it, even if they play it a lot
You can hear it when you walk the streets
How many people they reach, how they use music to teach
A "radio program" ain't a figure of speech
Don't sleep, cuz you could be a radio freak (freak-freak y'all)

[Chorus]
Turn off the radio!
Turn off that bullshit! (freak-freak y'all)
Turn off the radio!
Turn off that bullshit! (freak-freak y'all)
Turn off the radio!

[Stic.] People's Radio, you on the air
[caller] I got a phat chain, I got a phat whip
[caller] I got a... *hang-up*
[Stic.] Nigga get off that bullshit!

[*high-pitched voice*]
Crank up your speackers, your woofers and your tweeters
Turn up your receivers, we bangin off the meter
Crank up your speackers, your woofers and your tweeters
Turn up your receivers, we bangin for the people
Crank up your speackers, your woofers and your tweeters
Turn up your receivers, we bangin off the meter

[Stic.] - 2X
Freak-freak y'all, to the beat y'all
DP's dawg, we got the heat dawg
People's Radio, on ya stereo
For the ghettos, and the varrio

[*high-pitched voice*]
Crank up your speackers, your woofers and your tweeters
Turn up your receivers, we bangin off the meter
Crank up your speackers, your woofers and your tweeters
Turn up your receivers, we bangin for the people

DEAD PREZ!!!

Very good taste Oren 1 and SEC prophet!!!

I gotta get thier new album... You should check out the song they have with Stephen marley on the "Black & White" soundtrack. One of my favorite songs of all time. You know when I was talking about how all the videos are the same?? well if you remember thier first video for "Hip Hop" the beginning of the video starts off with the camera focused real tight on a girl's ass as she's walking down the street then the screen changes and reads.."Now that we have your attention" then the music and video start. I loved that!

Outkast is my favorite right now along with some underground cats here in southern Cali.

Remember when people said Rap would not last! pretty funny huh?

Man, I lost track at some point. Rap became less important to me. Personally, 2PAC and Biggie were way, way overrated. 2PAC got his start as a dancer for Digital Underground...now he’s some kind of cult hero??? pleeez....

And the best thing that ever happened to Biggie Smalls (as far as his career was concerned) was him being shot. Harsh words, but the truth…

You want rap? Listen to:

LL COOL J "B.A.D."
Run DMC "Raising Hell"
Eric B & Rakim "Paid In Full"
ICE T "Power"

The 4 greatest rap albums of all time!

heheh, I was joking, sort of. I haven't listened to enough 2pac to give him a fair evaluation... Never understood the hype around Biggie, and Nas had that one good album but is WAY overrated.

Whose truth, yours?? Listen dude I was never a big Tupac or Biggie fan but I repected them. That comment you made has to be one of the most ignorant I have ever read on here, or heard in my life!

Oren1 - I dont even know what to say about you man. First of all to come on here and give props to DEAD PREZ then turn around with this crap?

How can you know Dead Prez and not know Tupac? and Hey, If you like an artist dont be afraid to say you like him/her. You obviously mentioned Tupac Biggie and Nas because you are some sort of fan of thiers but as soon as SEC says he doesnt like them your like ..oh well yeah I was just joking.....stand up for yourself.

and as far as saying NAS is over-rated... Just actually take the time to really listen to everything he says on his latest CD.

Dude, easy with the holier than thou, I'm a realer rap fan bullshit, aight? How can I not know 2Pac? It's quite simple, really. I don't like his music that much, so I never bought any of his albums. I liked some of his shit, Gangster Party and Hail Mary come to mind, but I thought he was a hypocrite and his glorification of the "thug" image pissed me off. It's not cool to rape or abuse women, so **** that nigga.

I'm gonna have to stand by the fact that NAS is over-rated, also. Nothing he's done since Illmatic touches that so-called "masterpiece."

I was joking, the serious part about it was that I was genuinely shocked he didn't mention either of them. You probably know now, they aren't on my list, either.

Jesus christ I'm on the west coast, let me guess, you're from N.Y. Oh, no, you said you were from Cali, too. Oh well, we could have BATTLED, FOOL! hahah.

Oren - fair enough...It just sounded like you curled up in the fetal position after SEC's comments on your asking about those 3... Which surprised me after you came on here and posted DEAD PREZ lyrics (which takes a descent size set of nutz). If i misread, I apologize plus I was a little upset about SEC's Biggie comment. West Coast baby!

lol, that's cool. I'm lazy and tend to post vague, cryptic messages. Less typing that way.
