Why would you think any different?

Well because the previous two seasons were nowhere near as jammed.

I'm hoping the combination of salary cap and modifying the rules (three line passes et al) may have developed a more continual parity.

In my mind if you throw Detroit, San Jose, Dallas, Anaheim, Los Angeles, NY Islanders, and Atlanta out of the picture...you've got about 15 points seperating the remaining 23 teams.

No, you correctly understood my query.

A review of the first two seasons after lockout shows a final standing that is perhaps more "normal".

At about 2/3 mark (55-60 games) you would find about ten "for sure" playoff teams; another ten who were pretty for sure Out of It and the remaining ten would tussle for the final six spots.

Last season, it appeared that at 2/3 mark we had more like eight "for sure", about a half dozen "out of it" and a good 15 or so teams tussling for the final eight spots.

Sure a lot more interesting overall
