We suck. :pucking:

42nd minute of this friendly against Cataluña, we're down 0-1 and we look lost, lost lost. I am aware of how meaningless friendlies are but still. We be bad.

at the 15th minute mark of the second half, I reinforce my update. We really really blow chunks.

Give it time Slim, you guys still have two weeks. If the players can adjust and iron out the failures hopefully they will do better. I usually don't pay too much to friendlies and preliminary matches to determine how a team will do but rather see what adjustments they make after these types of games.

No Bdizzle, there is no adjusting to nothing. Teams are better than other teams. We happen to have a very weak squad with huge holes everywhere. Our defense is a sieve and our "forwards" have a horrible time scoring, Wanchope SHOULD not be on this team, Saborio (our best striker) misses WIDE OPEN shots that would get him killed in another country. We have to face the fact that we are widely inferior to the other three teams in our group. The team for example that played in the 2002 cup was much much better than this one. As I've pointed out before the only thing in our favor is, any time we are hopeless and have no chance is when we play better. Hopefully the World Cup will show that. Im not negative no, Im completely realistic. I give you the scoop exactly how it is and dont try to put any icing on top to make it taste better. The only reason we qualified is Honduras and Guatemala have gone down in their level in the last 4 years, FIFA gave CONCACAF three automatic spots and Panama joined the last round instead of a stronger team like Jamaica. If it weren't for those factors, we would be sitting here in CR contemplating the bullshit national tourney we have.

For example, before the 1990 World Cup, we got our ass handed to us by just about every obscure unknown 11 man squad we faced before the Cup. We expected nothing. Then we turned around and beat Scotland 1-0, lost to Brazil 1-0 and beat Sweden 2-1 before losing to Czechoslovakia 4-1 (the GK had plenty of blunders).

And that is what I like about you Slim... you know a lot about soccer and you are realistic. I came to the same realization as you have with the CR team, with the USA team. The USA teams sucks but fortunately not "the worst". I am still trying to understand what all the hype is about the USA team to be honest.

I didn't get to see the Cataluna vs CR game today unfortunately but from what it sounds like everyone is saying the team is horrible.

Yes, horrible, I asked the girl sitting next to me, why are you so surprised? This team sucks, there is no doubt about it.

Regarding the US, this is the best team the US has put out there ever, I still woulndt put them up to par with Mexico but definitely a strong team. In another group, they would have made it out of the first round, against Italy, the Czechs and Ghana, I think they have no chance, although much better than CR of surviving our group.

Hey, Slim.

Why do you think about Mexico? Just wondering. I don't see them making it out the group stages. Always feel that Mexico is a little overrated.

You don't think they make out of a group with Angola and Iran? They may be overrated based on world rankings, but they are in one of the easiest qualification groups in the tournament. I don't see them getting past the round of 16 (they play the ARG, NED, IC, S&M group), but it would be a MAJOR upset if they don't get out of group.

I agree they are overrated, Borgetti is the only scoring option they have, they are short, lack playmakers and don't play defense very well. But their group sucks outside of Portugal and since they play last and 2 teams qualify, I fully expect both to be sitting on 6 points and qualified by the time they play.

You're right. Mexico should make it through. I will be rooting for Iran and Angola to win or tie against Mexico.

Mexico for sure will make it out of its group. If Mexico doesnt, something very strange is going on. Mexico is actually one of the best teams in the World, perhaps top 10 even. Their group is rather weak, Portugal tends to not do much although no one can deny their potential, Iran is a sitting duck and Angola in theory should also be a siitting duck. Angola has always had inferior soccer and although they must have done something good to get their when all AFrican powerhouses *Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, Morocco* its hard to imagine they've advanced that much.
