Unzipped Files--what happens to them after unzipping?

I have a horse handicapping program where I download a zipped file to it from TSN data files. Computer asks me where to download it to and I download to the horse handicapping program from TSN. Then when I open the handicapping program it asks me if I want to unzip the file. I click yes and in a couple of seconds the program handicaps and gives me the infomation. Now my question is--where do these unzipped files eventually end up? They are gone from the handicapping program after 24 hours of being "unzipped". I'v searched all over the computer and they are completely gone. Do they end up in some type of invisible recycle bin once they are unzipped ??

I usually print out the results so that I can have a copy to look back on at a later date, but sometimes I don't print them out.

Zipped files once unzipped gone forever?
Don't tell me to do a system restore on the computer--it's not worth the risk to try that for me.
Thanks .

I always chose to unzip mine to the desktop and then they are right there. Also if you used winzip i think it has a folder for unzipped files.

PKUNZIP is the unzipping program that is used inside the handicapping program it. Does anyone know if this particular unzipping program is different from Winzip in what it does with files AFTER unzipping them?

I found the program PKUNZIP. (Under Search). But when I clicked to open it there were no race files inside. Only a black screen that works when the handicapping program is doing calculations.

I guess they are gone forever.
