The athletics department at the University of Virginia has changed its logo from two-crossed sabers with serpentine handles due to a reference to slavery, reports CNN.

According to the university, the serpentine handles were a reference to walls on campus that were used to keep the enslaved people out of public view. The original walls were built in the 1820s but then torn down to create more room for the university pavilions.

The sabers are now depicted with smoother handles.

“After the release of our new logos on April 24th, I was made aware of the negative connotation between the serpentine walls and slavery,” said athletic director Carla Williams on Monday.

“I was not previously aware of the historical perspective indicating the original eight-foot-high walls were constructed to mask the institution of slavery and enslaved laborers from public view.”

In another statement, Willaims continued, “Over the last few weeks, I have worked to better educate myself and that education will continue.”

“There was no intent to cause harm, but we did, and for that, I apologize to those who bear the pain of slavery in our history.”

What’s sad is it’s all an agenda. Not one of today’s young blacks look at and think anything of. Questioned on one statue torn down when asked many said they didn’t even know the statue was there , who it was, or what part of history it was about.

Being played. It will end soon.

I do not understand why the university does not close it's doors. It was founded by a slave owner, Thomas Jefferson.
They should close the university and give their endowment to BLM if they really do care about any racism.

We know they would not do that, they like most liberal/communists talk a good game but are empty suits when it comes to integrity....

It's just a matter of time in America before a civil war breaks out, whether it happens in a year, 5 or 10 years, it's bound to happen the way America is being divided & its history erased by radical groups, which many consider these groups to be domestic terrorists.......I hope I'm wrong tho.

i think you are right the trends show this has gotten worse by the year. or most of us who are older will just die off and these flakes will take over.

what's Yale gonna do?

the dude made his fortune as a slave trader. will the woke Yale alumni disown their degrees earned at a school that is proud to be named after a slave trader? Will their woke students continue shelling out 80k/yr for board & tuition while proudly displaying the Yale name on their hoodies? so many layers to signalling virtue...so many

An original logo always leads to success. And it needs to be properly designed. We work with logos and this is a necessary thing in every area. Once I was given the task to make some logos. Thanks to Master Bundles I got a lot of ideas. And we were able to create creative logos for leading companies.
