I also have picture saved on my hard drive. Then I pasted it to an MSN group like you stated in other thread. Then I took that url and typed it into custom avatar. Then all I had was the little x in the box. I'm missing a step or two in this process.

 

I just downloaded it, i'll see what i can do. Pretty big pic though.

The MSN groups URL's have an unusually long URL , usually the sentences long:

Maybe you should go for an animated bird gif, they show up better.

I see the difference. Where do you go to find those images? so, you go with images and not photos, is that it?

 

The best i can do with the one you posted:

 

They are just easier to manipulate.
The one in the center is a photo.

I just spent a half hour trying to figure this out. The avatar you have now is great--the image with orange. I guess you manipulated the photo(facial shot) to be 48x48 pixels. I took an image and reduced it to 48x48 in micrsoft paint. Hard to do as I had to figure out to rotate the picture because you can only reduce horizontal(right), vertical bottom. After I reduced on paint, I saved to Hard drive. Then I copied picture from Hard drive to MSN groups where I set up a picture group. Would I next then copy that picture using copy shortcut and then input that shortcut url into custom avatar? Let me know and thanks for the new avavtar.

 

Yup, erase the URL already in the Avatar Space bar, then right click the photo in MSN Groups, then copy/paste into the Avatar bar in your profile.
