Its an athletic commission issue. Each state's AC chooses and trains judges.

The State AC do appoint the judges to events, but they're not the ones who train them. ABC, ISKA, and private instructors like John McCarthy are a few. Judging is definitely suspect, and some has to do with the boxing style 10 point must system. Talks of a half point system have surfaced, and I for one, like the idea, but haven't mock trialed it sort of speak in any fights I've judged to see how it stands up, but I believe it may work better, and definitely will be more technical.

I just wish they'd use 10-10, 10-9, 10-8, 10-7, etc. it'd also be nice if they used 5 judges, rather than 3, for title fights especially. Don't they usually have 6 judges in rotation at the events anyway?

Another suggestion is live scoring after each round so it's transparent to the fighters/corners where they stand and so there's immediate accountability for the judge.
