Something else about Leach if you don't know by now. He marches to the beat of a different drummer. And he doesn't kiss the asses of the alumni or the administation. This is unacceptable at alot of schools who like their coaches to mingle with the big wigs and raise money for the university. I guarantee you Leach won't do this. And most bigtime BCS schools won't hire him for this reason alone. At Texas Tech he can be his own man and considering the things he's accomplished at TT, at this point he can pretty much do what he wants in Lubbock. Strange antics and all.. I'm not sure that these kinds of things will play well in a big city like Seattle.
Leach would tear Bozo the Carroll a new asshole if he had even close to equal talent.

What you fail to realize is that Leach could never recruit the type of talent that Carroll could. Leach isn't good enough to get the talent that Carroll has. Only Saban ranks up there with Carroll as the top college football coaches.
USC > everyone else this past decade.
Carroll > Every Big 12 coach.
If LEach was at UCLA he would be getting the type of talent that Carroll would be getting. Carroll is a hell of a recruiter but a big reason for that is because UCLA has been so down in the shitter that Carroll is cleaning up on all of the Socal talent and Socal is the biggest talent hotbed in the country, the only places that come close to Socal are Texas and Florida.
IF UCLA provided recruits an alternative to SC then Carroll would be splitting talent in LA and UCLA even if it was splitting Socal recruits 40-60 with SC would be fielding a top 15 program talentwise.
It's all a matter of being the right person for the right situation. Neither of those coaches would be a fit for the Big 12. That conference relies so heavily on recruiting in Texas and neither of those guys would fit in with Texas high school coaches, and that can make or break a Big 12 football program.
Mack Brown is the best I've ever seen at knowing how to turn the state's high school coaches into a de facto recruiting team for him.
I've been to Beserkeley a few times. And that place would be a perfect fit for him. Hell, he would probably be up in the trees with the tree huggers. On the other hand Seattle is a lot like Austin in that both cities have a fondness for oddballs and free spirits. I think he'd have a better chance of feeling comfortable and be accepted in a place like Starbucks Heaven than in straightlaced SEC country.
Maybe Cal would be the best fit for him. He wouldn't even make the top 50 percent of the weirdness curve in Berkeley.
Personally, I think Leach will have alot more luck at Washington in the long run. Mainly because he's now on a beautiful campus that is attractive to recruits compared to being located in the middle of nowhere where he's at now. And I think there will be more than a few wide receivers that would love to play for him. And we already know that California is filled with bigtime QB talent. And he's a west coast guy, which helps.Leach would do well at UW, pretty big talent base in the Washington area. BUt I thought Jim MOra Jr. was a lock to UW, how come his name never surfaced?
