Here's the BetOnline.com Twins vs. Tigers Series Preview ...
The Twins vs Tigers odds signal the start of that crucial home stretch in which division rivals control their own destinies by facing each other. The Twins keep hanging around, partially because the Tigers keep leaving the door open by slumping at inopportune times. Who will make the biggest noise in the AL Central in this weekend’s sports betting matchup?
Twins vs Tigers odds: Historical numbers favor Tigers’ pitchers on weekend
Friday, August 7, 7:05 p.m. ET
Anthony Swarzak (3-4, 4.25) vs Armando Galarraga (5-10, 5.22)
As obscure as Anthony Swarzak is, we at least know that he’s been a road warrior to open his career. He’s undefeated away from the Metrodome with a 2.22 ERA. You have to like his Twins vs Tigers odds against the sputtering Armando Galarraga, who is 0-5 against the Twins in his career. He simply can’t get Joe Mauer out; in 19 plate appearances against Galarraga, Mauer has five hits, five walks, a homer and seven RBI. Take advantage of the fact that the Twins should be slight underdogs on the road and pick them at your offshore sportsbook.
MLB betting pick: Twins
Saturday, August 8, 7:05 p.m. ET
Glen Perkins (6-7, 5.95) vs Justin Verlander (12-5, 3.29)
The beautiful part about a divisional matchup like the Twins vs Tigers odds is that the starters have faced their opponents enough times to provide us with a nice sample to help our picks. Glen Perkins has actually been great at Comerica Park in his career, sporting a 1.70 ERA. Against Justin Verlander, Perkins should give you an opportunity to bet under the total and get a nice win. However, you should still bet on the Tigers. Verlander is 7-0 at Comerica this season and there’s no point going against him until he loses there.
MLB betting pick: Tigers
Sunday, August 9, 1:05 p.m. ET
Scott Baker (9-7, 4.59) vs Jarrod Washburn (8-7, 2.93)
Jarrod Washburn is eager to show Tigers fans that he was a good trade deadline acquisition, and the Twins may provide him ample opportunity to do just. In 14 innings pitched over two starts against the Twinkies in 2009, he’s allowed one earned run and walked two. The Twins vs Tigers odds aren’t easy to handicap on Sunday, as Scott Baker has a 3.10 ERA at Comerica Park and August is his best month historically. However, a pair of Tiger hitters – Curtis Granderson and Magglio Ordonez – have his number. They’ve combined for six homers off Baker in 68 at bats, so I’m betting they’ll help the Tigers do just enough to get Washburn the win.
MLB betting pick: Tigers
