The offense has been anemic, scoring two runs or less in five of their last seven games. The Royals are 27th in the MLB in runs scored (81) and 20th in slugging % (.308). The Royals have dropped three spots in the standings during their 1-5 run. Meanwhile, Washington is in first place in the NL East at 18-7.
