Brooklyn Nets vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Bonus Play on: Nets+ over Memphis

Natural letdown sport for Memphis with the Thunder on-deck. In addition, the struggling Nets have been feisty in the series of late despite dropping an 11-point decision last time in the ring. Brooklyn (21-30) has faded their last three in second half with a -10.7 point differential. But, the visitor could get some assistance tonight with the Grizz (38-13) riding high and Tony Allen hurting. Techs show Brooklyn 4-0 ATS vs. >.600 units and 4-1 ATS at Memphis. With the Nets covering 8-of-11 in road outings, I'll take a ticket with the eastern unit.

Bonus Play LSU

I'm recommending a play on LSU plus the points on Tuesday night. No intimidation here as LSU beat the Wildcats a season ago. As always, and especially on the rare occurance they're in revenge, if you wish to back Kentucky, you pay a premium. Jarrell Martin has caught fire for the Tigers and I like the way the Tigers operate with Jalyn Patterson getting more playing time. But the bottom line is that Kentucky is not covering at a winning rate, going 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference tilts, including a current 0-4 ATS slide. I have stayed away from backing the Wildcats for a while, but did go against LSU last week in their outright loss to Auburn. They since bounced-back with a double-digit win over Alabama and I'll back them here. LSU is on a 5-1-2 ATS run against teams playing better than .600 basketball I'm grabbing the points. With just one straight up loss in their last ten games, and only two spread losses in their last seven games, must lay the wood with the Memphis Grizzlies tonight as they take on the road-weary Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn played - and lost both straight up and against the spread - last night at Milwaukee, as the Nets have now lost five straight on the road with just one cover in those five losses.

The Grizzlies won the first meeting between the teams this year, a 103-92 win and cover at the Barclays Center. Look for the season series sweep to come to fruition tonight, as Memphis rolls Brooklyn by a good 14 points or better.

While I won with the Grizzlies last time out, they're in a potentially tough situational spot here. They're off a win vs. the team with the top record (Atlanta) in the East and they've got a game at OKC on deck tomorrow. Remember, the Thunder knocked them out of the playoffs in 7 games last year.
Given that setup, it may be easy to look past lowly Brooklyn.
While SU victories have been few and far between, the Nets have been reasonably competitive this month. They're 3-4 SU their last seven games but a closer look reveals that only one of those games resulted in a loss of greater than 11 points.

This could be their toughest test the rest of the way. So far, UK is just 3-7 ATS vs. the SEC and 3-3 ATS outside of Lexington. Only five players scored in Saturday's win at Florida and don't forget that last year the Wildcats lost in Baton Rouge. They won the rematch in Lexington by just a single point.
LSU has a tremendous player in Jodan Mickey, who has the most 20-10 games (points-rebounds) in the county this year w/ seven. This is a team fighting for its NCAA Tournament lives and even a close call here would do wonders for their resume. At home, the Bayou Bengals are 11-2 straight up.

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins will look to bounce back from a 3-1 home loss to rivals Montreal when they host the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Dallas is coming off a 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers at MSG Sunday, but it still sits five points back of Vancouver for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. The price on the home team looks pretty affordable in this situation.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Special Teams - The Bruins rank 7th overall on the penalty kill this season, with a kill rate of better than 84%. They've been particularly good in that department lately though, leading the league in 2015, killing 49 of their 52 short handed situations.

2. Home Cookin' - The Bruins have won five of their last seven home games, and they are 17-8-4 overall in Boston. They are 2-0-1 in their last three home meetings versus the Stars.

3. X-Factor - Tuukka Rask has been standing on his head of late, going 8-3-2 with a .951 save percentage over his last 13 starts. He's been in the net for each of Boston's last 11 games, and one of those was a 3-1 win over Dallas in which he stopped 36-of-37 shots.

Xavier -1.5

A rough stretch of games here for the Musketeers as the reg season comes to an end. This is one game they can win here on the road. Overall i think Xavier is a much better team than most think. They do some things very well, and they just play bad on the road. They should bring the kitchen sink in this one however. They beat Marquette already, but it was a close game back on Jan 17th in Xavier. I like this spot here for Xavier though. I really think Marquette will struggle to slow down this offense. Xavier on the season avg 77ppg. Marquette just 66ppg. Both teams on defense are about avg and give up about 67ppg. Xavier is just a much better shooting team. Marquette even at home can struggle to find a good shooting rythym. Rebounding will favor the Musketeers and the way Xavier moces the ball will give Maquette some big issues. I don't believe marquette will be comfortable at all in this game. More of a slugfest type of game and you will get zero finesse out of Marquette. The right team is favored here and Xavier will show why they are the better team even on the road. I think Xavier will show how good they are tonight on the road and win this one by a few buckets.

Arkansas is back in the rankings this week following a pair of 20-point victories last week against South Carolina and Mississippi St. Going back, the Razorbacks have won five of their last six games to move to 7-3 in the SEC but only one of those recent wins came on the road and it was far from impressive. They are 3-4 on the road this season including a 2-2 record within the conference, the wins coming by a combined five points. Following tonight's game Arkansas has a revenge game at Mississippi, a team it lost to by 14 points last month. It has been an up and down season for Auburn and it has been mostly down of late as it has lost five of its last six games including a seven-point loss to Mississippi on Saturday. The Tigers have lost three straight games at home after starting 9-1 but now they are catching their biggest number at home since hosting Xavier and winning in overtime. The Razorbacks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against teams with a losing record while Auburn is 5-1-1 AT in its last seven games following a loss. Play (548) Auburn Tigers

Notre Dame -3.5

I like Notre Dame to roll over Clemson. Clemson really does not have a strong homecourt advantage this season as they are only 9-4 SU with home losses in conference by 4 to FSU and by 24 to North Carolina.

Clemson is a team that is offensively challenged to say the least as they only average 57 ppg in conference play. Clemson will play a Notre Dame team tonight that is one of the best shooting teams in the nation. While the Irish have lost their last two road games, they were both tough spots as they had to play @ Pittsburgh after upsetting Duke then had to face Duke over the weekend in a big revenge game for the Blue Devils who were pissed and shot 61% from the floor.

Now that Notre Dame has Duke out of the way, they can take out their frustrations on Clemson tonight and I fully expect them to do so. Notre Dame is ranked #1 in the nation is two point FG% and #1 in Effective FG%. They are hitting 9 three pointers a game and putting up 80 ppg while ranked 4th in the nation in assist: turnover ratio. This is also a disciplined team that does not make stupid fouls as they are ranked 3rd in the nation only committing 14 fouls a game.

Clemson is only shooting 39% from the floor over their last 5 games. I don't see them topping 64 points in this game and I think it is safe to say that the Irish will hit 70+ with one of the nation's best point guards in Jerian Grant and sharpshooter Connaughton.

This is going to be a game where we are going to take a premier offense that is efficient in Notre Dame vs. a very poor offensive team in Clemson that tends to go on scoring droughts. Clemson does try to play decent defense, but their defensive effort will not be enough to slow down the Irish tonight.

If you haven't had a chance to watch Notre Dame play this year, check them out tonight. They really play fundamental ball and have Jerian Grant who is a 1st round pick in the NBA draft along with a trio of guys that can shoot from the perimeter. The Irish also have Auguste down low who has been playing better and a freshmen by the name of Bonzie Colson who has been giving them a great spark off the bench. Lay the points tonight with the Notre Dame.

The Flacons are in a great spot here since they are 7-1-3 ATS on Tuesday games, 5-1-2 ATS their last 8 at home and they have covered 6 of the last 8 in this series. Western Michigan only has 1 SU win in their last 5 games and the Bowling Green defense is a full 12 points better than the Broncos.
