Orlando Magic vs. New Orleans Pelicans

Bonus Play New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are a very promising young team. They had a disappointing season last year and fell below expectations, but those woes can be attributed to injury problems. They come into this season healthy, and we expect this team to contend for the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference. The Magic are another young team, and like the Pelicans this team has a lot of talent as well. However, these two teams are very different. New Orleans is well ahead of their opponent in their development as a team, and the Magic are going to have a pretty rough season this year. While their future looks bright, it is going to take some time for this team to gel together and for some of their young players to develop their NBA games. This team is not healthy entering the season, and they will be without Victor Oladipo and Channing Frye, two key players, to start the season. The Pelicans should also get a boost in playing their opener at home, and they should bring their A Game here tonight in this game. Orlando will probably be a solid underdog play later in the season, but we think they will start off as one of the worst ATS teams in the league. And we don’t see the Pelicans having many problems winning this one by double digits. We also have some solid trends on our side here as the Pelicans are 5-1 ATS in this series in the last six meetings in New Orleans and 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.

Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Bonus Play Houston Rockets

The Lakers finished last season with a franchise worst 55 losses, and things aren't looking any better this year either. LA lost Pau Gasol to the Bulls via free agency, and word has come out that Steve Nash will miss the entire season due to a hurt back. This backcourt was already viewed as one of the weakest in the league, so the loss of Nash just makes things worse.

This will be Dwight Howard's 2nd trip back to LA since leaving a ton of money on the table and leaving for Houston. He no doubt has some motivation as he and Kobe were not great friends (To put it mildly). There's essentially no one inside who has even a remote shot of guarding Howard, so expect him to have a field day.

Kobe will try and carry this team as best as he can, but he's injury prone, old, and just can't do everything by himself. The Lakers also enter the season with a long list of injuries. Even after Nash, Nick Young, Ryan Kelly, Xavier Henry, and Wayne Ellington will all be missing this contest. That leaves LA to turn to Carlos Boozer, who has nothing left in the tank.

The fact is that the Lakers are flat out outmanned in every area, and its' really not even close. Opening night in LA might give the Lakers some momentum coming out of the gates, but that will be short lived and Houston will control the game. Take the Rockets.

Northfield: Tuesday 10/28 Analysis + Pick Four ticket
By Jeremey Day
DRF HARNESS

Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Jeremey $1 Pick Four Play:

9 / 2,7,9 / 6,7 / 3,4,5,8 = $24

Best Bet: HEZA RUBE (12th)

Spot Play: ACTION EAR TO EAR (11th)

Race 1

(1) LOOKSLIKEFIRE will be very tough to beat down in class; short price. (5) TABULATOR could be the only threat to the favorite with some racing luck. (6) BAND'S SUPERSTAR mare owns some decent miles that could put her on the ticket underneath.

Race 2

In a very weak field (4) DREAM KID owns all the back class but was empty last out; threat. (5) VISION OF GLORY adds lasix for the first time but needs a good drive from a provisional driver. (9) MOM'S LOOKER has been competitive at this level on the year; command a price.

Race 3

(9) FRIDAYSCOMIN was an easy winner last out off a layoff and a break. If the trotter minds his manners he will be tough to beat. (1) TAXISDUE well bred trotter is coming along nicely and gets the best post; threat. (3) BROADWAY BOUND was used twice last out and finished well.

Race 4

(9) CATCH THAT ANGEL should offer a good price racing for connections that have had some big recent winners. (5) R MASTER SCOTT burned cash last out but has been pacing faster than most of the field. (1) PAPER LUCK gelding makes his first start for new connections with the best post; threat.

Race 5

(9) SPECIAL PURPOSE has been trotting up a storm in the series and just needs a trouble-free trip to make it three straight. (1) SOUTHERNCLOUDBURST has some upside and raced gamely from the worst post last start. (3) BRADYMEISTER is probably the only threat to the top choice but has had trouble staying trotting.

Race 6

(3) SPEC T will also look to make it three straight in the series. (1) TURBOS AGREEMENT three-year-old has yet to prove himself on this level but does get the best post. (2) CHIEVOUS DAN will offer a big price and could be in line for a decent trip; use underneath.

Race 7

(4) NIRVANA GEAR filly has responded nicely to the top driver; short price. (6) JACKSONS SPIN four-year-old has started to turn it around for new connections. (1) MASERATI SEELSTER gelding raced big last out from a tough spot for his first win of the year and now gets the best post.

Race 8

(9) SOAKING UP THE SUN made a break last out but made up a ton of ground late. The pacer has beaten better on the year. (1) ITSALLABOUTTONIGHT has shown a big burst of speed and just needs a smooth trip for a piece. (3) AZOREAN BEACH well bred 4-year-old has a terrible record but finds a soft field; command a price.

Race 9

(7) PAMSFOOLISHTERROR gelding is one of few in the race that has been competitive at this level. (9) MAJOR MIKE is capable of pacing a decent mile at times; threat. (2) TIDBIT finds a weak field and could be in line for a trip up close.

Race 10

(7) R I P SPANKY was a big winner first out for a new trainer and could offer good value. (6) STRANGE HANOVER ships in from out east and is winless on the year. The pacer is likely to take heavy tote action off his fast-looking lines; use caution. (2) DIGGERS REST N paced a decent mile last out but is probably better used underneath.

Race 11

(8) ACTION-EAR-TO-EAR picks back up the top driver and is a threat at a price if he's able to make the top. (4) MASTER'S SWEETIE mare has been much better in her last two efforts and didn't miss by much at this level from the worst post last start. (3) ALE ALE JANDRO has trotted some nice miles recently and gets a good post.

Race 12

(6) HEZA RUBE lays over the field on ability and just needs to stay trotting for a victory. (9) HELLO CARLO veteran trotter could be the main danger should the top choice falter. (8) FORTUNE SAILOR does his best work from off the pace and is much better than his lines indicate.

Race 13

In a weak field (4) LLOYD ARNOLD gelding takes another drop in class and will be tough to get by with a similar effort to his last. (9) ARMBRO DURABLE picks up the top driver but looks to need more. (2) BRIGHTON BAY ONE showed a lot more earlier in the season but finds a field full of question marks.

Race 14

(4) LINUS B WORTHY picks up the top driver down in class; big chance. (1) S M'S TERMINATOR benefits from the rail but needs some racing luck with a low percentage pilot. (5) CONTECH is capable of trotting a decent mile from time to time.

Race 15

(6) MARTIN HANOVER pacer has some excuses in his last few, drops in class, and gets a good driver change. (5) MAGICAL JIG just missed for a new barn last start but is facing better. (9) LITTLE AMOS fits at the level nicely and could use a fast pace to close into.

Yonkers: Tuesday 10/28 Analysis
By Brewster Smith

MEET STATS: 327 - 1237 / $2,163.40 BEST BETS: 26 - 103 / $128.80

Best Bet: DECK THE HALLS (2nd)

Spot Play: ART DEGREE (6th)

Race 1

(8) WAYWARD SON draws badly but this gelding is very consistent. Has every right to mow these down. (2) LEGAL LITIGATOR has good early zip and the 2-hole can help his cause. (6) VIPER HANOVER has wheeled off two straight victories and Brennan signs on.

Race 2

(5) DECK THE HALLS was used up in the early stages last out. Trotter might have enough gas in the tank to boss these. (3) JUSTA REBEL was second best in his last trip. (1) VALLEY GLIDER should fare well from the fence.

Race 3

(5) HEMERS CARD SHARK Is 0 for 12 this year but the good news is he faces no tigers in here and could make tonight a winning one. (7) ROCKIN ROBERT has hit the board in his last three tries. (1) LEGENDS LUCK Upstate invader has the rail slot and fits well in this one.

Race 4

(2) HESGOTLEGS Trotter showed some speed in his latest. With a perfect trip, he could take these to task for all the marbles. (5) TACS DELIGHT just got up last out at Saratoga for win honors. (1) FLASHBACK can be right in the mix.

Race 5

Will try (3) THE WAY I AM to put it all together against these trotters. (5) TOSS CARTWRIGHT Qualifier at Freehold was quite sharp for his return. (2) GOLDEN STROKE Tough break last out but gelding can rebound; watch out.

Race 6

(1) ART DEGREE is clearly knocking at the door. Sophomore seems to be ready to get the job done and Brennan gets the assignment. (3) SKYFUL OF LIGHTERS took the pocket route home to victory last time around. (4) UPPERCUTZ showed good speed in his last start.

Race 7

(1) GYMOKEE JERRY got the job done in his recent outing. Two straight is clearly not out of the question for this sophomore. (3) CANADIAN EDITION has hit the board in his last three starts. (2) CS EYE was sent down the road for all the glory last time out.

Race 8

(6) HARDTS OR BETTOR Gelding seems to be knocking at the winner's circle door. Capable of breaking it down for his 4th score of the year. (2) ELECTRIC CRUISER Down the road score at Philly last time out. (4) RESPECTABLE DREAM could be right in the mix.

Race 9

(1) O SUNDLAND Very sharp with three straight victories. Has the rail slot and should keep on his winning ways. (2) GOLD ROCKS should do much better from the 2-hole. (7) PANCHESTER UNITED could have a say in the outcome.

Race 10

(5) JK EVEN STEVEN just got up for the victory in his most recent outing. Four-year-old pacer has tactical speed; poised to take another. (4) DIAMOND SAID moves down in class and Brennan gets the call. (3) MCSHORTY should be right there from the three slot.

Race 11

Will give (2) MY LAST CHANCE a chance to get back on the winning track with a fine-timed drive from Carlson. (1) MEETYOUATMIDNIGHT Speedy pacer will be the one to catch. (4) GEORGE JETTISON has done well in his last three trips; watch out.

Race 12

(5) LISTOWEL showed life in his last start. So with that said, this gelding can move forward if given that same trip. (4) CASHENDASH HANOVER gets serious post relief and that could help his cause. (1) HOKURI HANDRAIL N Even trip in his latest; not out of this.

Turf Paradise Race 4 for Tuesday, October 28, 2014
Handicapped by The Turf Club Analysts

Bar

Turf Paradise - Race #4 - Post: 2:18pm - Maiden Claiming - 5.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $6,500 Class Rating: 48

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#5 MOTOR'N MONA (ML=9/2)
#7 ALLY QUIEN (ML=4/1)

MOTOR'N MONA - This is a classic 'Lone Front-runner' scenario. If Franco gets him out of the gate cleanly it'll likely be smooth sailing. Filly's finish positions keep getting better with each race. Maybe today's the day. Filly has shown some speed. This shorter distance should be better for her. This horse's last race was at Fresno in a race with a class number of 64. Dropping drastically in class rating today puts her in a solid position right here in this race. Three consecutive improved speed ratings (3-28-46) make this thoroughbred a solid contender. I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a comeback. ALLY QUIEN - The jock and trainer combination have a beneficial return on investment when they combine forces. Taking a trip down the class ladder; has the class ability to make her presence felt. Trainer, Jensen, has been deliberate with this filly off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. Another way to judge class is earnings per start. This animal has the top in the field. I think she'll be close at the finish line.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 LUCKY'S PAT (ML=5/2), #1 HIP NINETY THREE (ML=3/1), #1A CUP OF SOUP (ML=3/1),

LUCKY'S PAT - Trying to beat this participant this time at the price of 5/2. HIP NINETY THREE - In the last affair this horse finished 12th. Doesn't look promising for her chances in today's event. Improbable for this entrant to make an impact with no recent success in a sprint race. CUP OF SOUP - Finished sixth last time out of the box. Would have to get better to finish in the money today. Where is the pace? None to be found in here to set things up for this thoroughbred.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - MOTOR'N MONA - Analysis shows this filly's last speed number of 46 is as good as any. Don't overlook this filly in your gambling.
