I watched that game when they played Buffalo Sunday and when Tua took that hit and got up, you could clearly tell something wasn't right. My first thought was that he hit the back of his head and was trying to shake the cobwebs out and needed to be evaluated.

I was actually surprised when he walked out of the tunnel and finished the game.

So, when McDaniel said after the game that Tua hurt his back on a QB sneak then aggravated it on that hit, with all that I saw him do in the 2H, I didn't think that explanation was crazy. I was skeptical because of what I saw with my own two eyes but on the field in the 2H, he looked normal.

Like most of you, I didn't give it another thought. Tua entered concussion protocol and was evaluated and cleared by the independent neurologist to play against the Bengals. So, here are my questions...

1) If it was his back that was injured, why was he evaluated for head trauma following the Buffalo game?
2) What did the medical team, including the neurologist, tell McDaniel about the nature of Tua's injury during/after the Buffalo game? Did they tell him it was Tua's back but it was really his head or did Tua lie to them?
3) Was he evaluated for a concussion in the lockerroom during HT of the Buffalo game?
4) Who evaluated him this week and cleared him to play?
5) Did any of his teammates voice their opinion that maybe him playing was a bad idea?

There's going to be much blame to go around but I'm not willing to do that until we have additional information. I've been in a leadership position before where I have had to rely on the advice/counsel of medical professionals before returning a person back to the job. I am no medical expert so I followed the doctor's rules/orders. That said, McDaniel saw what we saw when Tua got up from that Buffalo hit. Surely he asked additional questions? I would hope so.

More to come.

Good points

I was at the game on sunday. When Tua got smacked, took a few steps, and then fell, i was thinking "oh shit". I saw him walk off the field with helmet off and figured he was out for the game. When he came out of the tunnel for the 2nd half, he had his arm up which pumped up the crowd (i wasnt personally there to see it).

He was evaluated by an independent neurologist. He was tested for a concussion. All clear

He played well in the 2nd half. Threw a beautiful pass to Waddle.

And as you said, i havent heard 1 player or coach speak out against the team. Coach even had a press conference on Tuesday saying how Tua called him 1045pm on monday and coach was all worried that something was wrong. Coach seems like a "players coach" and i cant see him go all Bud Kilmer (varsity blues reference) forcing Tua to play.

It sucks seeing what happened to Tua last nite. However i dont think the dolphins did anything wrong. Its also weird how Tua left the hospital 2 hours later and was able to fly home with team. No overnight observation or anything.

If the NFL really wants to investigate and take action then maybe we investigate the bills players who put on a "late hit" that forced Tua out of the game last Sunday.

Maybe we investigate the NFL on why we have Thursday night football every week while these players are on 3 days rest?

I dont need to hear Screaming A Smith or the rest of the talking heads tell us the dolphins were in the wrong.

This isnt the 1990's where players played with concussions and teams/owners didnt care. Teams are so crazy with concussion protocol, that they arent going to risk a player's health on a week 3 or 4 game.

I hope Tua is ok. He was having a very good year before this hit occur. He didnt impress me years 1 and 2 but i was happy with his performance so far this season.

It also sucks that i dont think he's the long term answer for this team. He's too fragile.

I would like to see the rookie Skylar Thompson play over Teddy 2 gloves. Maybe we have a good QB who is making 7th round draft pick $$

If not, lets find a new QB next year

I'm with you in that I think we should take a wait and see approach here. Social Media is full of immediate outrage and of course, that outrage is not good for this situation or any situation.

Many things could be true here:

1) Tua's back really was hurt on Sunday. I don't see that as probable though. We all saw what we saw.
2) Tua was evaluated at HT of the Bill's game and passed his tests and told the staff he was G2G and showed no signs he wasn't right.
3) Tua passed all of his tests and evaluations this week and he gave the medical staff no reason to think he wasn't fine.
4) Tua verbalized to his teammates he was playing in Cinci and G2G so the staff believed him.
5) McDaniel spoke to the medical team who told him he was ok.
6) McDaniel spoke to Tua personally who assured his coach he was ok.
7) Tua really was hurt and the medical staff covered up his previous concussion and threw him out there anyway.
8) The owner and management directed he play.

I guess all of this stuff could have happened.

The main question though is this. Let's say the medical team did clear Tua to play last night. Should McDaniel and team have stepped in and protected Tua from Tua knowing what they saw Sunday? That is a slippery slope because now you're asking a football coach to play doctor and make decisions for the team based on the coach's intuition not expertise.

And I don't think his arm is strong enough for those deep balls to those lightning receivers he has. From what I've seen.

Nope. It's the doctor's decision. No coach is gonna overrule the team doctors. Either way.

Hopefully he comes back and soon, plays over his head thanks to his receivers and the Dolphins don't get a real QB.

Had a story about his family and how driven his father was to create pro athletes. If they care about him, they will know what to do as he doesn't seem to know how to protect himself on the field and seems incapable of making good decisions about his health.

Tua has to sit out 2 weeks minimum regardless of what concussion protocol shows. He is now in danger of becoming one of those CTE victims in his 40's or 50's like Dave Duerson or Junior Seau. He is also more susceptible now to getting a third concussion.

What’s up with the independent neurologist getting canned today due to “making several mistakes”? If the player needs to be cleared by the independent neurologist and the teams neurologist, shouldn’t they both get fired? Doesn’t this imply the team neurologist made the same mistakes and/or failed to recognize the independent neurologists mistakes?
