This Sun Belt/Fun Belt matchup gives us two teams who are way better at defense than offense. Heading into Week 7, South Alabama ranked No. 33 in defense on the F+ charts at Football Outsiders, but No. 87 on offense, while Troy checked in at No. 45 and No. 94 respectively.
Granted, that was before the Jaguars beat UL-Monroe 41-34 (Over 51). The Trojans did their usual thing, though, barely scraping by Texas State 17-14 (Under 47). Troy’s run defense is excellent – they held the Bobcats to 86 yards on the ground at 3.1 yards per carry. Let’s hope South Alabama’s defense delivers some more of those delicious takeaways.
