Anyone from Virginia here?? I just got a 84 mph in a 65 zone...they gave me a court summons instead of a ticket....courthouse is 4.5 hours away from my house so I am trying to figure out what the penalty is ($ and points) to see if its worth going to court

You have to go to court its 19 over... See if Virginia has a DMV Website & see if you can find out how many points & the fine..If you don't go to court theyll suspend your Lic & put out a warrant for you.. E- mail me here & Ill give you a 800# for a Lawyer referral if you want one.

yea on my court summons there is a number that I can call if I dont want to do to court and they will mail me the fine and what not..."reckless driving by speed" seems a bit excessive for 84 mph...I got to see what the penalty is cause Im not feeling driving all that way for court

yea 6 points is stupid...over 80 mph should not be reckless driving...I assume those points would transfer to MD?? I live in Maryland and got the ticket in Virginia on my way home from Clemson...Someone told me that if your home state borders the state then it transfers, I can verify that though...Its looking like I got to take a road trip for court

You can order the discovery by mail. Go talk to an attorney & find out the specifics-pretty much all of them will give a free first consultation.

MARYLAND
Chesapeake Region Safety Council Baltimore (various locations), MD safety@chesapeakesc.org 410-298-4770 or 800-875-4770
These #s are for the National Safety Council in your area...The Defensive Driving Courses are usually done on Saturdays & they take 2 points off your Driving record...You can do this once in a lifetime & costs about 75.00

Although I didnt get hit with reckless driving, this is what happened to me. I think I was going like 70 on a 55. Since I live in MD and the incident occured in a different state, the points didnt mean shit (I guess it doesnt carry over for some jurisdiction reason...idk). This was from the MVA when I called. And all I had to do was pay the fine. After finding this out, I keep it right on the limit at MD and if I'm at another state, I'm zooming.

Good luck bro. Hate dealing with stupid traffic shit, fucken annoying.
