After 2-0 start today, Pitt and Villanova should be a treat. The pundits are calling for a physical, defensive dominated Big East rival battle. Once again, I differ in my outlook. Jamie Dixon has taken the leash off the Panthers, with all of their offensive weapons. At the same time they are not near as good defensively, as in yesteryear. Nova plays their game, no matter the opposition. Love Nova's toughness and Pitt doe not take a back seat to anybody in that category. Figuring fouls will be a plenty, with resulting FT Line trips. You are more than welcome, but the thanks goes to you. I've always played sides and stayed away from totals, but thanks to you I now have a new found appreciation for totals and catching on a little bit to the thought process that goes into playing them. Hitting over 83% is phenominal, but I'm thinking it's something that's not uncommon for you. Hell, if I remember correctly, I think 2 of the 4 losses were extremely close to being winners, and if it hadn't have been for some out of character poor free throw shooting by both teams, they would have been in the win column.

LOOKING AT PITT-1 AND 75 SECOND HALF. The intended play did not develope, like I envisioned. I Love Nova, but just can't see them overcoming Blair's inside dominance. Of course, if Blair commits a few more of his usual Wunderlich fouls, it could change the whole complexion. Pitt's continued doldrums began early, but the Panthers snapped out late, in the 1st half. Scotty Reynolds is not on his game and that hurts the Nova cause. Fortunate in some ways, to get 1st half push on 66 total. Fields and Young WILL Panthers to FINAL FOUR. THUS:

All the answers, to the road to Detroit are written today. Michigan State in Indy vs Louisville is the first question. Louisville's depth and pressing style are right up my alley. The Spartans will like it, as well. Izzo, like Calhoun will let a much misperceived attack go to the basket. Mich State has been characterized all year as a grinding, slow it up, pound it in team. Nothing is further from the truth. Part of it was the Big Ten competition ( Ill., NW, Wis.,Iowa etc.) and Slooow-mo styles. State's guards are quick, fast, and not afraid. Believe they get a ton in transition today. Cardinals recovering into half court zone adds to the open looks. Louisville very talented & balanced at all spots. ( can jack from deep, slash or go inside and will do it all). The first of two regional classics. THUS:

Well Izzo went to his bag of tricks and outcoached Pitino and me. Never thought he would choose to not transition, but he did. Spartans had one real attempt to fast break and it resulted in a "3"y the freshman. Will look at the 2nd half #'s Louisville -6 & 72.
