He doesn't, the bad end of the car does from the burp of the throttle. That's all it takes, and that is clearly audible and visible in that video even when the cameraman moves the camera. You can see the car loose in the rear end. It's not going straight like the white car that passes first, and it's 5-10 ft higher on the racetrack.
Front end goes left, rear end goes right. Do you know how to drift a car? A burp of the throttle turns the front end left and rear end right automatically. The car is set up this way (left turn only), along with difference size left and right rear tires.

Kicking right was from coming out of the throttle as well.
If you watch the video slowly, the dude is almost passed half way across the race track. He gets clipped by Stewart, stuck under the car pulling the car to the right. And after he gets launched it corrects itself. There is absolutely no right movement before he is hit. And when you stop the right tire the car is going to pull right from just basic physics.
If you think a 150 lb body will stop 850 hp, I don't know what else to say. Did it help, sure, but these cars kick like wild bulls when the throttle is let out of.
Im not by any means saying he meant to hit the dude and kill him, nor will he be charged with anything, but did he mean to get close to him, scare him and maybe fling him with a rooster tail of mud, dang right he did. I'll be racing in 2 weeks, and if you went, I would have to give you +300 on this not happening when I go because I've seen it often, and have stupidity even done it myself.
The dude was half way in the track. And yes a 150 lb object that gets caught in the wheel can slow momentum and swing the car right. As you see the car fish tails the opposite way it would if he were drifting. The body obviously had an effect on the movement of the car and there is no evidence that the car turned in any way towards him before hand.
