Watching CBS and hearing about food pantries overwhelmed with demand and some closing because the folks working there are elderly and are concerned about their own health.

So let’s start with the obvious short term fix.

There are plenty of teenagers not going to school and their parents without a job. Now more than anytime in the past 50 years there are plenty of people who could work at the Food Pantry.

And in watching footage of cars in line, I see so many that are newer than my own vehicle! (2004 Ford F-150)

Which leads to one of my pet peeves.

Why am I supposed to feel bad for kids who go hungry because their parents don’t know how to be financially responsible?

If there ever was a time to learn how to stretch a dollar and how to fix your child a breakfast, now is the time!

We need to teach our kids (starting in high school) financial responsibilities.

We need the government to teach parents financial responsibilities rather than give, give, give so they can blow their money on “stuff” rather than feeding their children and themselves.

Make it effective 5-10 years down the road.

We need leaders in all communities to teach responsibilities.

But that will never happen if we continue to allow people to think it’s okay to let the government feed you and your kids.

Before anyone gets food stamps, free breakfast at school, parents must attend a workshop of some sort on financial responsibilities. Hire people within their communities to teach these workshops. Hire more to do child care follow ups. We keep hearing how swamped DCF’s are, get more workers.

Yeah I know, won’t happen, heck that may teach people to be responsible...and some may even say, eliminate millions of future democrats...:think2:

Okay, off my soap box and got that out of my system.

One last point, for those who REALLY NEED HELP, yes in all means HELP THEM!!

I can think of a million things to waste my time with, but donating or volunteering at a food pantry won't ever make the list.

Welfare recipients lives really haven't been disrupted one bit from corona. They're even going to receive the $1,200. Why? Millions of them haven't ever worked.

Saw a Salvation Army commercial yesterday asking for people to donate their $1,200 if they didn't need the money.

A wise man told me many years ago, "The needs of the poor are never ending, find something more productive to be concerned with."

God Bless you Timmy, every single thing you wrote is 100% correct

the only part that is correct is that it won't happen. have the government teach people financial responsibility. that one is good for a belly laugh. force people to attend workshops to get food stamps. another joke. they need to hire more people to get more of those 1200.00 checks out quicker and regularly every month until the end of the year at least.

Yeah I know it won’t happen...but one can dream.

Willie has said it many times that the government has screwed this up for 50 years or more...
