I can think of a few reasons for the hate. Although I don't hate anybody, I've never cared for his general attitude both on and off the course. Things like spitting on the green as he's walking off. His tantrums on the golf course that were more like a little juvenile than a professional golfer. I can think of a few reasons why women don't like him. Other than watching the enormous amount of talent he had in his prime, I really don't see that many redeeming qualities about Tiger..
Definitely not true. The last time he was healthy for a full year (2013), he was the best golfer in the world. He retained the #1 ranking until mid 2014 after his injury.
He returned after injury and didn't play well and is now injured again.
But less than two years ago, he was the #1 golfer in the world. So the "not relevant for at least 5 years" is crazy.
His game that year wasn't at its best for Tiger but he still was the best player that year. You are correct, he didn't win a major that year but he won 2 World Golf Championships plus he won the Players Championship that year. He won 5 times and I don't think another player won more than twice. Saying that he had too many flaws to compete on the hardest venues is simply not true and those 3 Championship wins against the best in the world that year proves it.
The bar for Tiger is and always will be set higher than any other player. If he doesn't win a major everyone will say he had a bad year no matter how many other wins he had. Posts in this thread are proof of that when you have posters saying he has been irrelevant at least 5 years when he won 5 tournaments just 3 years ago.
The haters will always hate. i love how some like to say Tiger is an asshole on the golf course and off as if they know him and have played golf with him. I can't recall any tour player(the ones who actually play with him and know him) saying that Tiger is an asshole on the golf course. I guess ckid knows him better than those guys.
I have a friend who was a golf pro at Doral, and he has said to me a gund dif times how nice tiger was to EVERYONE on the "inside of golf" a little standoffish to the public, and that Phil mik. Was the HUGEST DIK to (him) everyone he played with. Yet nice and smiley to the public.
Yes and no. Sure it isn't going to effect what they play for next week but it does effect the future.
Tiger playing = more viewership + bigger crowds = more revenue = bigger paydays. Tiger, especially when in contention, is good for the bottom line. Tiger is the reason these guys play for the money they do today.
