There is some talk that some of the new deals may include a Thursday night package for the last 8 weeks of the season.

Why won't they do Friday instead of Thursday?

There is no difference for competing with the college game, right? I'm sure the teams would prefer the longer week - especially playoff-competing teams.

Granted, I'm married with kids, so I stay at home on Fridays anyway for the most part, so maybe the younger fans would prefer going out on Fridays to watching a game - but didn't we used to go out fairly late anyway on a Friday?

I'd much rather watch a Friday game, when I don't have to get up for work the next day, than another weekday game where I'm either falling asleep at halftime, or falling asleep in the office.

Well, the reason why there won't be Friday night games is because that's when high school football games are. These high school teams have tried to sue Conference USA for their Friday night games and have created a big mess. So the NFL doesn't want to bite the proverbial hand that feeds it

What makes the highschools think they can sue a conference for playing games on Friday? They dont own Friday. If they can sue college football for playing that night, why cant they sue the television networks for playing television shows, and the movie houses for playing movies?

that does seem like what Conference USA is trying to do. this year they had games on every night of the week throughout the course of the season. quite frankly, i love it. i love being able to watch tcu play south florida on a tuesday night or most games for that matter. there's talk that some other conferences, the MAC or the WAC, might start doing this as well. the MAC has already had sunday, tuesday, and thursday night games so it wouldnt take much effort to put more games on. i'm already missing football.........
