3*ODU + 4(buy 1/2)

The Hokies rely on Bryant Matthews and his 25 points and 10 rebounds a game. He will matchup with ODU's 6-9 Alex Loughton,who is averaging 16 points and 9 boards.Neither of these teams shoots particularly well from any range(VT-41%,28% from 3;ODU-38%,29% from 3) or protects the ball(vt 15 to/g;ODU 21 to/g.I lean to ODU for the following reasons:
1)They have a little more depth.The Hokies have essentially a 6 man rotation as most of the starters play over 35 minutes a game.ODU is not extremely deep, but they do have an 8 man rotation and will have more bodies to throw at Matthews.
2)In what should be a close game,I like the team that can shoot free throws.VT-63% ODU-89%.
3)Schedule-ODU has lost to UNC and a tight game to St.Joe and should find the competition a little easier.The Hokies got bounced by UVA and have wins over Western Carolina,Morgan State, and New Hampshire.

Hokies started the year with SEVERAL injuries, transfers, players leaving school, etc.

For some of the games, they've only had 6 scholarship players.

Don't think anybody will return for ODU. But they are a team to watch during the season. Not saying the Hokies are gonna be good, but as players return from injury, the Hokies will improve. I have a feeling there will be value on the Hokies as they get healthy in Jan/Feb.

Agreed,but Carlos Dixon will redshirt this year.Of the other injuries,one is a freshman and the other averaged 3 points last year.Dixon is obviously the loss that affects them the most and he will not be returning.
