BELMONT PARK Race #4 at 2:55 PM Eastern

Top pick: #3 (ENGLAND) (3-1) - Lightly-raced, he runs first off a Dave Jacobson claim (26) and he drops this 3-year-old way down off the purchase price. That's not an unusual move by the leading man in New York and this 3-year-old has enough talent to break his maiden in this spot.

2nd pick: #2 (Jackson N Lorimer) (5-2) - He takes the same drop as "England" and has a recency edge on that rival. Gelding by "Afleet Alex" cuts back in distance off a mile race at Aqueduct on April 2nd and is a strong win candidate.

3rd pick: #7 (King Gettigan) (10-1) - Improving colt is one of two entered by trainer Gary Gullo and the pair race uncoupled. He comes off a career best when finishing a close up third at Aqueduct just four days ago and is brought back quickly.

4th pick: #5 (Gabriel's Flame) (8-1) - Gelding raced evenly at Aqueduct on April 9th after going 3-0-2-1 earlier this year. One-run type can grab a share in a race where the pace may be fast and/or contested.

Ryan Braun sitting out fifth straight game

Ryan Braun has avoided the disabled list so far, but tonight the Brewers right fielder is sitting out his fifth consecutive game with a strained oblique muscle.

Elian Herrera subbed for Braun in right field for the first four of those games, but the Brewers just demoted him back to the minors and will apparently use first baseman/third baseman Mark Reynolds in right field now. Not only has Reynolds never started a game in the outfield, he has a grand total of four career innings there. So that should be pretty interesting to watch.

As for Braun, a disabled list stint seems likely if only because players with oblique injuries rarely are able to return within two weeks. He was last in the Brewers’ lineup Saturday.

Kershaw to join Dodgers Monday, start against Nationals

The Los Angeles Dodgers are about to get their $215 million man back. Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to start against the Washington Nationals Monday according to Bill Plunkett.

Kershaw, who struck out nine batters over five innings in his last rehab start, has been on the DL for the Dodgers since March 29.
