Pau Gasol plays his first game against his former team today when his Bulls host the Lakers. The Lakers are not very good, but they have been covering spreads, going 4-1 their last five (before Golden State game). On the road the Lakers are 8-6 ATS and actually have more wins (5) then they do at home (3). The Bulls aren't quite as good as most people thought they would be, but at 18-10 in a weak East that is still pretty good. The Bulls used to be known as a defensive team. However, this season they have been scoring a lot of points. The Bulls have over 100 points in 11 of their last 13 games. That has translated to a 9-4 O/U record during that stretch. Lakers will be getting plenty of points here today. They seem to play better on the road and I'll take the points with them here on Thursday. Your Bonus Play is on the Lakers.

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Clippers

We think the wrong team is favored here. The Warriors have been just so dominant this season and the Clippers have been going through the motions this season with the occasional break-out game. But overall we don’t think that these teams are close right now. That may be a different story as we get towards playoff time since the Clippers probably have a higher season, but the playoff are a long way away, and right now the Warriors are a better team and in much better form. Yes, they lost to the Lakers in a head-scratcher on Tuesday. We think that was a real look-ahead situation where they had their eye on this game and did not play up to their normal level. The Clippers have lost three of five and five of eight overall. Two of those wins were close ones at home against the Bucks and Pacers, and their only other win was a blowout at home against horrible Detroit. We are sure they will be highly motivated for this game, but not sure if they can execute against a team playing this well right now. This is also the Clippers third game in four nights, with a lot of travelling in between, and we don’t think they will have the necessary energy to beat Golden State here. The Warriors have had the same schedule but have not had to leave the state of California this week and are coming off a recent three-night break. Plus they just annihilated the Clippers in the lone meeting early this season in November that was even more dominant than the 17-point final deficit indicated. Plus, the Warriors have now covered five of the last six meetings between these clubs despite the playoff series won last year by LA.

Christmas Day has five on the NBA schedule with the first tip-off at noon when Wizards visit Knicks. Next up on the slate, it's Spurs welcoming Thunder then Miami entertains LeBron and his Cavaliers followed by Lakers hosting Bulls with the finale featuring Warriors and Clippers. Flip a coin, the past six years Favorites, Underdogs are a dead even 15-15 on Christmas Day. However, playing 'Under' during the span has been profitable as the total has stayed 'Under' in 19 of the 30 games. Our NBA betting database chips in these betting nuggets. Heat (4-1 ATS), Thunder (3-1 ATS), Clippers (3-1 ATS) seem to show up on Christmas Day while Knicks (1-4 ATS), Bulls (1-3 ATS) have been terrible bets. The database also hints, total bettors might like to consider 'Under' when Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls hit the hardwood as Lakers are 0-6 O/U on Christmas Day, Bulls 1-3 O/U playing on the holiday.
