New York + over Atlanta

Derek Lowe has been rocked in recent outings, allowing 37 hits and 20 runs over his last five starts. The Braves are just 8-7 in Lowe starts this season despite being valued as a one of the elite starters in the NL and the Braves are 2-5 in the last seven Lowe starts. The Yankees have won eleven of the last 16 games between these teams. Andy Pettitte has been a reliable starter for the Yankees allowing two or fewer runs in three of his last six starts. New York is 7-3 in Pettitte's last ten starts and the Yankees are 5-1 in his road starts. Pettitte features a 2.35 road ERA. Atlanta is batting just .217 in the last ten games against left-handed pitching and this looks like a favorable match-up and a great price for the Yankees

Chicago Cubs at Detroit Tigers 1pm

Play the Chicago Cubs
Ted Lilly starts for the Cubs and the team is 10-4 when he starts. His ERA is just 2.21 in his last 3 starts and the team is 3-0. Galarraga is on the mound for the Tigers and his ERA is a very high 7.11 in his last 3 appearances. Play the Cubs as small road favorites on Thursday.

Today's Bonus Play

I handed you a FREE WIN for the third time in four days with the Blue Jays downing the Reds on Wednesday. We'll it League Championship Series. In 39 regular-season appekeep it rolling today with another interleague matchup.

As a pitcher for the Red Sox from 1997 through 2004, Derek Lowe is no stranger to facing the Yankees.

The sinkerballer dominated the last time he faced New York, allowing one hit in six innings on two days’ rest in Game 7 of the 2004 American arances vs. the Yankees, however, Lowe’s ERA was 6.07.

Now with the Braves, Lowe (7-5, 4.09 ERA) has been solid at Turner Field, going 3-1 with a 3.27 ERA in seven starts. But he has struggled on the mound lately, going 1-2 with a 7.47 ERA over his last three starts.

Lowe will be opposed by a familiar face in Andy Pettitte (7-3, 4.26), who has thrived when away from hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. Pettitte is 4-1 with a 2.35 ERA on the road, and he allowed one run on three hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings Friday in New York’s 5-1 win at Florida.

And Pettitte has had pretty good success against the Braves, going 5-1 with a 3.13 ERA against them in nine regular-season starts, and pitching 8 1/3 shutout innings in Game 5 of the 1996 World Series.

Atlanta hasn’t won a series since sweeping Toronto from May 22-24, and is 11-17 since then. I don’t see the Braves breaking through today. Go with the Yankees.

Play on: Kansas City (Bannister) over Houston

Although Moehler pitched decently in his last outing, the Astros right hander gave up three home runs. Opposing hurler Bannister of KC has been on fire the last three times on the diamond with a super 1.29 ERA. Over the last two mound encounters Bannister has gone into the eight inning, quality starts, you bet! KC has won four of five in this series, while going 8-2 versus righties in Inter-League games

Cincinnati Reds at Toronto Blue Jays
Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are 6-0 THIS season as a favorite when they lost the last two games their starter started and 5-0 THIS season as a favorite after a win in which they drew 5+ walks and it is not the first game of a series. The Reds are 0-7 in the last game of the series. Consider laying this short price.

Boston Red Sox for 2 units -125

The Washington Nationals have been terrible this season and I believe we are getting some good line value today with Boston even though this is the first start for Smoltz this season. On get away day I am hearing that Washington is going to sit their best hitter Adam Dunn today and that is big for Boston in this series. Boston has dominated the Nationals in this series winning both games by 2 runs and 8 runs which is a 5 run average. Zimmermann is pitching for the Nationals today and he has been not bad in his last 4 starts but run support has been a problem only averaging 2 runs of support in his last 3 games. Nationals are 12-25 at home this season which is 13 games under .500 at home. Boston has won 8 out of there last 9 road games and are looking for the sweep today in Washington which should be easy for them to get. We believe that Boston should be a big favorite in this game because of a 3 ER difference in the bullpens average and we see Boston winning this game in the 6th-9th innings today.

1 Unit on Arizona D-backs +100

The Rangers' Scott Feldman got out of the gate fast, but he has struggled of late, going 0-2 with an ERA of 4.76 over his last 3 starts, with the Rangers losing all 3 of those outings. Plus, the Rangers are 2-5 in Feldman's last 7 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150, 2-7 in his last 9 starts during game 3 of a series, and 0-4 in his last 4 starts when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game. Although it hasn't shown up in the win column, Garland has pitched much better of late, posting an ERA of 3.92 over his last 3 starts, and the Diamondbacks are 5-1 in his last 6 starts following a team loss in their previous game and 4-0 in his last 4 starts after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. The Rangers are just 1-5 in their last 6 as they have not been able to score runs like they were early in the season. In fact, they've scored 2 runs or less in each of their last 4 games. Take the D-backs at home tonight to get the job done.

Take Under 8.5 Cleveland Indians @ Pittsburgh Pirates (Thursday @ 7pm est). Cliff Lee is one of my favorite pitchers and he starts today's matchup on the road as despite the Indians not playing well as a team, Lee still has a 2.94era. He comes off a quality start in Chicago where he gave up 3 runs in 7 innings but the Indians failed to score any runs as they lost 0-3 at Wrigley. Lee has produced 9 of 10 quality starts and although he comes off a ND, he usually does well whenever his team does not win his last contest as he pitches well to the under off such an occurence. Ohlendorf comes off one of his worst starts of the year giving up 6 runs in 5 innings at Coors Field. Having followed the Princeton grad, he has yet to have back to back non-quailty starts this year and I expect him to bounce-back well today as well. The Under is 8-1 when the Indians are favored by this margin on the road and the Under is 4-0 for the Pirates when they face lefties at home of late.

4 Unit Play. Take Washington Mystics -3.5 over Phoenix Mercury (Thursday @ 7pm est).

4 Unit Play. Take the Cincy Reds Under 8.5 @ Toronto Blue Jays (7pm est).

really like to know the logic behind that under with Cinn/Tor.
I realize Tor. sucks after putting together 3 straight wins, they can't seem to put together 4, but their bats are on fire, and throw in that Cincy don't hit lefties all that great, but Cecil is not an above avg. leftie, and Cueto is great when he's on, but OTR @ Toronto against a team that is hot.
