Thoughts on BYU -7?

I like BYU in this game, but what bothers me is this same thing happened in 2006 with FSU. They came off a heartbreaking loss against Clemson on Labor Day and played UAB on a very short week. They were -34 in that game and it went down to the wire and they won 34-24 similar to what happened last week vs. Jacksonville St. The next week I jumped all over Colorado when the Noles went to Boulder. FSU covered and won outright. I am not comparing that 06 Colorado team to this BYU, but the situation is very similar. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It might be best to just leave this game alone.

Cougars Have Not Lost In Provo Since

2005, Bronco's 1st yr. 7 IS a tad hi, I still prefer a team w/smarts & discipline, and that ain't the Noles. Think Hall has a huge day against that secondary. FSU will be so confused by the smell of fresh & cool air, they'll think they died and went to heaven. 31-14 BYU!!

This is a tough situation for FSU; two early season games where they appeared to have a way to go before the "GELETIN" gels an now, this loooooong trip to Morman Country. The jet-lag aone can do-in seasoned/aged coaches like Bobby Bowdin not to mention a "hot" BYU team.

Another factor often missed: Florida schools play at sea level; these higher elevation games do have an effect on the players.

The argument for FSU goes like this:

- tough heart-breaking loss to biggest rival on opening night
- short week vs. a crappy opponent
- uninspired practice completely taking game for granted
- results show on the field, FSU not interested, finally won the game when the had to.

thoughts people still have from pre-season hype:

- still expecting big things out of Ponder and the O-Line
- much better recruited talent to FSU than to BYU
- team speed is a huge edge for FSU

--------------------------

Those thoughts are all well and good, I just don't know that I buy that. The difference between BYU this year and Colorado ('07) is that BYU is a legitimate top 10 team whereas Colorado was a legitimate 6-win team.

BYU needs this win and needs to win big to remain in the National Championship hunt. They have the QB that can lead them to victory, and FSU comes in with the name that will prevent BYU from taking anyone for granted. I like BYU to win because they are a team of winners and they have gained a huge chunk of confidence in beating Oklahoma in what was essentially a road game. I wouldn't be terrible surprised to see FSU rise up and make a game of this, but I'm betting that that's not going to happen. BYU -7

CU did beat Oklahoma that year. And that FSU team was a lot weaker than this year's version.

Ia going to load up on FSU. Their defense sucked in game one, but their offense is going to hang a big number on the Mormons.

This seems like the sort of game that Brandon Lang puts a 30 dimer on BYU because they have looked strong, FSU hasn't, BYU is at home with a great QB against a pass defense that is suspect...but then you look at a shady line and FSU wins the game by 3.

If it gets to 8.5-9 like I suspect it will, I'll be heavy on FSU.

You all can take FSU and 14 and when the clock hits 00:00 you'll be crying in your beer wondering how you could have been so stupid. This ain't your daddy's FSU team.

I think that the name recognition is very influential in games like these....FSU left it all on the field and then some against Miami and came up short at home, then almost got caught with their pants down and embarrassed (really were, only winning within the last 5 minutes against a D II school)...BYU got very lucky when Bradford went down which made them winning a bit easier, but lets not forget that they were playing right there with the Sooners beforehand...blowing out Tulane isn't anything special, but I think Hall is the real deal, and BYU knows that they have to win games like this convincingly to stay atop the BCS standings. I think BYU takes this by 12-14 and the weapons at Hall's disposal on offense is too overwhelming for the average secondary of the Seminoles

I'm on BYU here....and it's not rocket science. I don't understand the FSU picks in this thread. Usually BYU is a offense only type team. This BYU team actually plays defense....and that ain't good for FSU. In addition to FSU's offensive struggles, shitty offensive line (don't be fooled by the Rick Trickett love-fest), shady-QB play (Ponder? Please!)....they are ON THE ROAD! This game isn't at that shitty football stadium known as "Joke Shambles Stadium". It's in Utah. They are going to get a serious beat-down!
