thanks will check those out. i have doubts that there is a god like other people, but i am willing to explore the evidence.

when God gave moses the 10 commandments he said these are already written on the hearts of every person. where else would this sense of goodness that people have come from?

except of course the people on this forum that rejoice in the pain and injury of other people. are you just ignoring your heart or do you really enjoy when other people feel pain? i dunno

i dont care for anne coulter but i am not happy or rejoicing bc she got injured

What proof and supporting evidence? You would be better off just admitting that your beliefs are based on faith and stop looking for something tangilbe for validation.

Here's a sensible post with which only a few zealots could argue.

i just read a book called case for christ. guy was a lawyer and reporter for chicago times. he was looking for proof of christs existence because he didnt believe jesus existed. it is scary what he found, for the nonbeliever that is. there is a lot of historical evidence that jesus was an actual person and a lot of people thought he was the son of god. and a lot of people saw him killed and then alive.

it is a good read.

You are using circular logic. There are very few sources outside of the bible that discuss Jesus and their veracity is questionable to say the least. The Bible's main validater is the Bible.

As someone who appears to be searching for what to believe, I urge you to read arguments from both sides. You could start by comparing the similarities between Jesus and Pagan gods that predated him by hundreds, even thousands of years. Osiris is a particularly interesting comparison.

2500 years before Christ, Osiris:

  • was born of a virgin as the son of god on Dec. 25th
  • turned water into wine
  • had 12 disciples
  • died for the sins of the world
  • descended into Hell after his death
  • was resurrected after 3 days
  • will return in the end times to judge mankind
These are just some of the major comparisons. There are many more. The Jesus story also holds strong parallels to Dionysus, Horus, Attis, the Hindu Khrisna (sounds kinda like "christ", doesn't it?), and others.

Looking at the historical evidence, it's obvious that the Christ myth was copied from other religions. There is very little about Jesus that is original, if anything at all.

You really have to contort logic to believe that there is one religion that is right while thousands of others are wrong. Hell, there are 30,000 different sects of Christianity, many of which thinks that the others are not "true Christians" and that they are the only ones going to Heaven.

If Jesus/Christianity is the one true religion, then God is a bumbling fool who does a poor job of getting his message out.

The Bible was written by people who didn't know where the sun went at night. In the 21st century when we have robots on Mars, men on the moon, and a spacecraft that is currently travelling beyond our solar system, it just boggles my mind that we haven't outgrown this Bronze Age need to believe in something bigger than ourselves.

It's mythology, dude. Get over it.

there are dozens of historians from the first to fourth century (josephus being the main one) whose writings have been discovered that mention a person names Jesus and many details about him. these are not "christian" historians who are trying to prove a point but just record events.

Judaism is the first monthiestic religion and cant even be compared to religions that predated it which worshiped several different gods.

what do spacecraft have to do with the fact that a man named jesus lived, was one of the most historically written about persons of the time, spawned 3 major religions and many observed and recorded that he performed miracles.

it looks like you should research both sides.

so god is a bumbling fool if his son spawned the 3 major religions that are most followed on earth today? christianity, judaism, and islam

LOL.

So Jesus spawned Islam and Judaism? That's the first time I've ever heard anyone make that claim.

Anyway, go ahead and wallow in your caveman superstition. IDGAF.

I'm known for smoking the good stuff, but I definitely need some of your stash

According to zealot Bible believers, just a "few thousand years before Christ", mankind did not exist.

10 brief points Christians
should know about Muslims and Jesus
By Sound Vision Staff Writer

1. Muslims love Jesus. We also love Abraham, Moses, and Noah, to name just a few other Prophets Muslims revere. May God's peace be upon all of these great messengers of God.
2. Muslims also love the mother of Jesus, the Virgin Mary. We believe she was a pious and noble woman chosen over all of the women of the world.
3. Muslims believe that Jesus was born miraculously of a virgin mother and no father. His birth is miraculous like the birth of Adam, the first human being, who was created with neither mother nor father.
4. Muslims do not believe that Jesus was the son of God. God is so powerful and self-sufficient that He does not need a son or any kind of partner.
5. In Arabic Bible the name for God is Allah. Therefore all Arab Christian call God Allah as Muslim do as well.
6. Jesus did not die on the cross. Rather, God saved him as his enemies were confused about him. Jesus was taken up by God to Heaven.
7. Jesus is called Isa (pronounced Eesa) in Arabic.
8. Jesus performed miracles by the Will of God, like healing the blind and those with leprosy.
9. Jesus prayed to the same God as all Prophets and we pray to.
10. Jesus will return before the end of the world.

Judaism was long before christ
Christ got christianity going about 70A.D.
Islam popped up about 700A.D.

Most modern religious kookism originally spawned from the middle east.

...apart from the mormons, who clambered aboard a jetski to America in 100A.D.

Well the birth of Christ - and the resulting religious doctrines of Christianity - all occurred after the books of the Old Testament were written.

And most of the books of the OT were written within the supposed 1000 year gap prior to the birth of Christ.

Finally, all people who believe the Holy Bible to be literal and without error believe that humankind is less than 6500 years old* - equal to just 4500 or so years BC

====
*The Book of Genesis contains alleged dates of birth and life spans for mankind dating back to the alleged first humans Adam & Eve and those dates combine to equal less than 4500 years.

There is no such thing as a "Christian Bible".

The books of the Old Testament all predate the birth of Christ. Only the books of the New Testament are directly affiliated with the religion of Christianity.

Christ himself (per the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) came to Earth to deliver a message that would supercede the millenia-old philosophy of Judaism.

The Bible says that the earth is flat, has corners, is held up by pillars, that the sun rotates around the earth (meaning the earth can't be moved), and was built on a foundation.

wow you are taking a lot of liberty by translating the four corners of the earth and end of the earth into god is saying "the earth is flat."

if god really did say these things wouldnt he speak to the people in phrases that they understood. or would he say "you see in 2000 years we will have rockets that fly into space and the earth is round so, there really is no east and west because it all goes in a circle"?
