Been dealing with LCD's and plasma's for years. Go with Samung. 1080p is the highest, but only with blu-ray. Your TV will only look as good as its own calibration and feed!!!!:103631605

Pounds per Square Inch
. I wish I was the one selling GroundHog11 his TV set. I smell commission out of this deal. Yeah you need to buy some cogs, sprockets, widgets and a couple of watchamacallits in order to experience the full effect of the tv.

Why is it called a television set when you only get one?

Stop saying "psi" - you sound like a dunce.

120Hz is good because its evenly divisible by 24 and 60, which means no matter what type of source you're viewing jutter/choppiness should be eliminated.

If you have the money, 50-inch 1080p plasmas can be had for under a grand... If money is an issue I'd point to 720p models as they can be found for around 500 bucks. If you have even more money Samsung LCD televisions are quite stunning.

I'd trade size for picture quality. A determining factor of pic quality lies in the cable provider--so why not have a big picture with damn good quality?

Get a good sized plasma that does 1080p. Samsung is a great brand and plasma still has the best picture quality for a cheaper price.

FYI, Wal-Mart announced that a 50" Plasma for $598 will be one of their Black Friday specials.

An LCD would be a better choice if the TV is on 24/7.

And NEVER, NEVER, NEVER purchase an extened warranty. For anything. They are nothing but massive profit makers for those selling them.

NEVER!

I gotta disagree about extended warranty. Some LCDs will have banding issues.

I had an LCD that just started turning off by itself for some reason. Had to replace it.

I pd.$55 for a 2yr warranty after the 1yr factory warranty expired & it pd for my vizio32in that got burn out on the screen after 13 months, one month after factory warranty expired. I normally don't purchase ext.warranties as i used to sell them when i was in the auto business & they are nothing but money makers for the people who own/sell them, but for $55 for 2 years after the the 1yr factory warranty expired,i thought it was a good buy & fortunately it turned out that waY for me.
