Sitting on a park bench --
eyeing ittle girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose --
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Drying in the cold sun --
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Feeling like a dead duck --
spitting out pieces of his broken luck.

Sun streaking cold --
an old man wandering lonely.
Taking time
the only way he knows.
Leg hurting bad,
as he bends to pick a dog-end --
he goes down to the bog
and warms his feet.

Feeling alone --
the army's up the rode
salvation à la mode and
a cup of tea.
Aqualung my friend --
don't start away uneasy
you poor old sod, you see, it's only me.
Do you still remember
December's foggy freeze --
when the ice that
clings on to your beard is
screaming agony.
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
with deep-sea-diver sounds,
and the flowers bloom like
madness in the spring.

Those are the lyrics from the song Aqualung by Jethro Tull from the album of the same name (Aqualung). The song in it's day was a monster hit for rock flutist Ian Anderson.

Wind up

When I was young and they packed me off to school
and taught me how not to play the game,
I didn't mind if they groomed me for success,
or if they said that I was a fool.

Believe it or not I saw Janis in concert in Weisbaden Germany in early 1970 (about 6 months before she died). She did a concert at the Jahrhundert Halle near Frankfort (actually in Weisbaden). She rocked the place which at the time was brand new and could seat around 2000 people. I remember her drinking jack out of a paper bag and singing Ball and Chain at the end of the concert. I saw Jimi Hendrix at the same place. I am sure it is still there. German posters can vouche for th Jahrhundert Halle beign a real place.
