There's some teams (like Oakland) who are WAY under the salary cap as well.
earl thomas and sherman are both up for re-structured deals having completed their 3 years in the league (free agents after next season) - seahawks are getting a lot of value out of the QB and corners positions, both are ranked 31st in salary by position...my thinking is that they will try to re-work earl's deal now and then franchise sherman next year if they have to...if both want to get paid top dollar, it will be tricky, but as of now seattle has about 38 million of salary cap room for 2015, more if it goes up as expected...Seattle GM Schneider builds the team using a spreadsheet that projects 3 years ahead, im sure they have a plan
It would be foolish not to have a plan. I'm sure they have one.
I don't imagine in today's market that there is much loyalty to a team. I certainly would want all of the $$ I could get especially if I deserved it.
Sadly, this whole idiotic situation is a net positive for Sherman. There is only publicity…most publicity, good or bad, is beneficial.
I'm a PR professional and this couldn't be further from the truth.
Ask yourself how good the publicity was for the IRS after it was discovered they were targeting the Tea Party?
How good was the publicity for Aldon Smith after he went into rehab for his drinking problem?
How good was the publicity for Ron Artest following the fight in Detroit?
All negative and nothing beneficial at all.
