I think it is extremely premature for everyone to jump on the bruins train.

sure they are a good team, but to win the east? i mean stop it people.

That's cool, keep doubting. Just like I doubt your Wings.

Caps are quietly on fire having won 5 in a row and 7 of 8. As long as we keep getting solid goaltending and avoid any more injuries we'll be fine.

Well, Jose Three or four used the flu as an excuse last spring, wonder what he'll have in his bag of trix this spring. Although, at least it's not Kolzig, we haven't swept him since 97'.

I agree, best team is the Wings and they got better.

Boston or Washington will represent the East in the Cup. That's almost a given as far as I'm concerned.

Coincidentally, Tim Thomas was awful tonight and was pulled prior to the third period. Manny Fernandez however has won 8 of his last 9 starts for Boston.

Dont let the early season standings fool you. Goaltending wins in playoff hockey and Brent Johnson or Tim Thomas PHLEESE!

Couldnt agree more the Bruins are not going to the Cup. Guys its December dont let these wide open Eastern Conference standings mislead you. 1-8 in the East can make it there its anybody's game no clear cut favorite at all. Now in the West its most likely SJ, DET, and now maybe VAN with Sundin and Luongo only but thats all that can be said at this point IMO.

Theodore blows. I hope he stays injured. :103631605

BJ and the rookie Varlamov are much, much better.

bruins and caps rep the east? really don't see either one in the finals. i'd put montreal, pittsburgh and the rangers as the three favs to win the east right now.

I'm seeing Montreal vs San Jose/Detroit in the finals, it'll be tight in that west conf finals. No team touches those two right now and you'd have to give the edge to the team with home ice.

Don't forget that the Sharks already beat Detroit this season too @ SJ unless i remember something wrong.

vic- what's the deal with the 6/1 odds you're offering? certain amount you're looking for or what? i'd be interested in that, but not sure if i want to tie money up for that long if this is done via matchbook. what's the details for this offer because 6/1 is pretty tempting because I think it's 50/50 between them and the Sharks.

I don't think the Nucks could even go 6 games in a series with either SJ or Detroit, even with Sundin. Just a massive talent difference in the two teams and it will show more so come playoff time. Vancouver isn't going anywhere special this year, other than maybe the 2nd round.

At last someone with some conviction.

I'll offer Detroit at 6/1, to anyone here, to win the cup. However I'm the one that will be tying money up. Whatever you risk I need to tie up six fold. I'm not a big fan of credit bets between anonymous forum posters from parts unknown, (as you shouldn't either). I don't mean this to sound insulting but paying the 2% commission is a cheap price for guaranteeing us both a quick and assured payout.

As I look at their site this morning I notice someone is offering 3/1 on them to win and much more at 1/6 that they don't. Either way it would appear I have action against them laying 6/1. If I'm to lose my money, I'd rather keep it in the family and let you guys benefit from my disillusioned thinking.

Agree and disagree. I do believe the number of teams that could win the cup is wide open, especially in the east. And because it's December I wouldn't be too quick to narrow your western conference field to just 2 or 3 teams. Much can change in the four months till the playoffs begin. We have no idea who will be playing for these teams come April and May. Injuries, trades, and bad fortune could still have a lot to say about who wins it all six months from now.

Jeff Halpern back in action for the Bolts is one example of a big change

Montreal? :missingte

Do you actually think the standings of teams in December is indicative of their playoff success come April? All teams go through funks throughout the long season does not mean by any stretch them or any other team in the East is not capable of going the distance with strong defense and goaltending 4 months from now.

As a leafs fan there is not a team i hate more in hockey than the montreal canadians, but to me they have the best shot of winning the easy. solid play everywhere on the ice and a goalie that can steal games for you (carey price is already a top 5 goalie in the league, possibly top 3 with lundqvist and luango).

it hurts to say it, but the canadians are the team to beat in the east imo. it wont matter though because no team in the east right now, or the west either for that matter, has a legit shot to beat sj or detroit in a 7 game series.
