I am not saying this to disagree with your position, but here are a couple things to consider;

1) Pedro Martinez is a far better pitcher with more rest. It will be 5 days since he pitched 1 inning relief in NY and 7 days since his last start.

2) Weather is warm in STL, Pedro greatly prefers and pitches better in warmer weather

3) Boston has a pretty good defensive team ( yes, I'm serious). That they have made a ton of errors and gotton away with it does not imply they will continue to make a lot of errors. They will probably play fair to good defense the rest of the series.

If anything I like the over. The sox bats are not going to slow down, especially vs Suppan.

Tried to get this in but was rejected. They moved limits down on me. Kenny I am all over this pick and you make a lot of sense with it.

OMT,

seriously, are you just saying this to back up your comments earlier?

or are you on Boston? or are you sitting this one out?

It is Curious that Pinny does not have the best price on Boston but they do have the Best price on St Louis....

You would be hard pressed to find a bigger BOSOX fan than myself.

They are basically what i have lived for the last 37 years of my life(44 currently).

Love the CARDS in this game.

Mr SHRINK has most of the reasons in his above post as to why I also think this.

Dont be surprised if the CARDS move Womack back to the lead-off spot tommorrow night............to me, this would be a wise move.

Savant:

I not only have the Sox for the series but was waiting for last night's game on the run line as well as this game in particular because Pedro is pitching and the Cardinals will not have faced the kind of pitches and the manner in which he delivers. But more importantly, the Sox are playing like champions, very much together. They do all the little things to respond and just win. They are a complete unit playing as one and are hot. The Cardinals have great hitters but will find it very tough tomorrow against Pedro. True they have won every post season game at home, but they haven't played a team as together as one as the Sox currently are. LaRussa continues to make tactical judgment errors like starting Morris on 3 days rest and pitching Marquis last night when he goes in Game 4 just to give him innings. That also let the Sox see what he has. Suppan has been the best post season pitcher for the Cardinals, but will be challenged by the Sox hitters. As I said, in any game, anything can happen and perhaps the Cardinals will win, but this play in no way deserves a "Large" play. I will be on the Sox with a seasoned pitcher, a team playing together as one, riding a current streak, focused pitch by pitch trying to win a World Series badly for Boston, refused to lose when down 3-0 against the Yankees and 3 outs away from elimination, against a team that has lost two straight, a pitcher who, although pitching well, is inexperienced on this stage, and manager who, in my judgment, is somewhat arrogant and overrated. Champions in major professional sports are normally playing at their peak. The Sox fit that mold. The Cardinals don't.

Yes, wanted to make you think it could be a Saturday college game.

Posted this play in the bases forum this morning.
I also posted this play in TFZ last night as a qualifier in my starting pitcher system

(MC, I think shrink and fishhead are riding our coattails)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The BEST AVAILABLE price that I see on this game is at SportsInteraction (currently -115). Usually they have the best price on the dog, so you should know what that means...

Womack is not a great leadoff hitter fishhead. .316 career OBP. That doesn't cut it, and he's got back spasms and an injured collarbone. Don't see that as a difference maker for the Cards frankly. Suppan has serious control issues. It's risky backing someone like that. Cards 'pen is badly depleted w/out S. Kline. The only lefty they have is Ray King. Not saying the Cards are a bad play, just not worthy of all this artificial hype you and Shrink are trying to manufacture.

FOLKS....
ANY PLAY CAN LOSE.... THINK TWICE BEFORE EVER BETTING MORE THAN YOU ARE TRULY COMFORTABLE IN LOSING.....

That being said I think I will be on the Cards myself quite large in this game.... although OMT really has me scratching my head....

Nice Analysis SHRINK + OMT:toast:

OLDMAN- Your points are well taken and is precisely why the CARDS are only -120 and not -195.

Many people believe the BOSOX are better than sliced bread right now.

The CARDS are a VERY VERY good team and now they have their best pitcher at home laying only -120!

DAVID ORTIZ playing 1b and the absence of the DH are not to be taken lightly in this spot.

The Cards win this game in this spot 64% of the time and laying only -120 will make one money over the longhaul.

CARDS are the professionals play here on this occassion.
