Another Powerball drawing ended with no winner Saturday night, sending the jackpot soaring to an estimated $900 million.
No ticket for Saturday’s drawing matched the winning combination: white balls 2, 9, 43, 55, 57 and red Powerball 18. The jackpot was estimated at $875 million.
Ticket buyers for Monday’s drawing have a chance at either $900 million paid out in yearly increments or a $465.1 million, one-time lump sum before taxes.
The top prize is the third biggest Powerball jackpot and the seventh largest in U.S. lottery history, Powerball said in a statement early Sunday.
While there was no jackpot winner, Powerball said three tickets that matched all five white balls Saturday are eligible to claim $1 million prizes, including two in Texas and one in Colorado.
The jackpot will keep growing until someone wins.
The game’s abysmal odds of 1 in 292.2 million are designed to build big prizes that draw more players. The largest Powerball jackpot was $2.04 billion in November.
The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was April 19 for a top prize of nearly $253 million. Since then, no one has won the grand prize in the past 37 consecutive drawings.
Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

I'll do a QP and play 6-13-14-20-24... 26

I always wondered how/where the tax money goes...

Where Does The Rest of the Money Go?

Apart from giving players the chance to win prizes, the main focus for each state lottery is to support good causes within its own borders. Many of the lotteries are devoted to helping the local education system, while others focus on the environment or health services, or split the money across several sectors. In these instances, the proceeds may be handed over to the state treasury for allocation or go to a general fund which oversees lots of different areas.

The remainder of the revenue in each state is used for retailer commissions or to cover operating costs. Retailers are rewarded for selling the tickets and receive bigger bonuses when players win big prizes through them. Operating costs include all the different expenses involved in running a lottery, such as marketing, salaries to employees, business contracts and general administration.

The Mega Millions jackpot jumped to $560 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in the July 11 drawing.
This is just the seventh time in the game's 21-year history that the jackpot has surpassed $550 million
Next Mega drawing is Friday.

Next Mega drawing is Friday.
After no one across the nation hit Friday’s $560 million prize, Tuesday's jackpot jumped to an astounding $640 million.
The prize is the seventh-largest in game history, according to Mega Millions, and the cash value is estimated to be $328 million.
The numbers drawn Friday night were 10-24-48-51- 66 with a Mega ball of 15. The multiplier was 2X.
The next drawing will be on Tuesday, July 18 at 11 p.m. ET.
While no one took home the big prize Friday one ticket sold in South Carolina one $2 million and three tickets sold in California and North California came in second-tier winners.
Across the country, 50 tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball to win the third-tier prize. Five of those tickets are worth $20,000 each because they also included the optional Megaplier; the other 45 win the standard $10,000 each.
The last Mega Millions jackpot-winning ticket was sold on April 14, matching all six numbers to win the grand prize of $483 million or $256.9 million cash.
The odds of hitting the grand prize jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
