The NFL is about to have a really big QB problem in about 3 years from now.

I can't believe Gino Torreta and Jason White won the Heisman.

hard to say. Remember when Bledsoe got hit out of bounds? Then came in a guy named Brady. If Bledsoe never got injured on that play, its possible we never even hear of Brady

Cream always rises to the top. He would've been playing within a month regardless...2 max

Hackenburg is one of the worst QB's in the CFB game today.

One of the worst? He definitely has taken a step backwards this year. Had to learn a completely different offense and the high number of sacks. His problem is he realizes how physically gifted he is and trusts his arm to much which leads to poor decisions and turnovers. I have no doubt he will be in discussions for the no. 1 overall pick when he does come out. Pocket passer with good size, arm, and footwork. What he needs to learn is how to throw receivers open. Once he learns to do this and stops trusting his arm so much you will see an elite quarterback.

no clue...Didn't watch Eastern Illinois and the only game he played in this year was in mopup duty when the Chiefs were up about 56-3

Not a big fan of taking a backup QB rd 2 when you are SB contender so he better panout from that perspective

Chop...

I agree with all you said at the top,

I would add that I think Manning might be gone after this year... based on my observatio0ns recently.

And..... I think the NFL thought they had sort of a minor league system in place..... but the money has gotten so huge for the NCAA.... they work on whatever they can do to win a game NOW. They don't care about building real talent.

Lot's of CFB QB's are physically gifted. I watched the guy all year. He's ass.

I dont blame college football for not catering to the NFL unless the NFL starts sending them a check.
College footballs job is not to be a minor league system for the NFL.

Every other major sport has a minor league system.

I know this would hurt college football, but the NFL is past due on having a minor league system.

Thats a mighty small encyclopedia.
I won't be competing with Wiki anytime soon I guess.

Yeah I'm usually just not a big fan of that type of move. I think it is organizational hubris, you see it in sports sometimes. Teams think they are competivive on a yearly basis because of their scouting, drafting, coaching and all of that is good and well but the #1 reason the team is good every year is because they have 1 of the best players ever at the most important position.

When you have someone that good at QB you should be trying to win as much as possible while you have them because it likely isn't going to happen again for a long time. A 2nd rd pick has a lot of value and just to use it on "the future" when you are currently a superbowl contender is something I'm not a fan of. In this sense I like what Denver has done a lot, they realize it isn't about "oh we want to sustain excellence year in and year out that is what we're all about blah blah blah." It is more like "We got Peyton Manning somehow and we need to sign everyone we possibly can and try to get a ring before he retires or isn't elite anymore"

To do something like this would usually be an acknowledgement that a single player or two is bigger than your entire organization, but in the short-term it pretty much is...

fwiw with the Manning example, the Broncos did take Osweiler rd 2 in 2012 but they've been more aggressive in free agency and seem to have more of a sense of urgency in terms of trying to win in the next few years. I'd say taking a QB rd 2 when you have Peyton Manning is a bad move too though. Unless you are convinced since he is a star in the making or something...

I agreed with the garoppolo move and highly disagreed with the Mallett move.

The Pats were just not close enough to the end of the Brady era for that Mallett pick.

All they basically did was develop a QB for another team when they could have used that 3rd round pick on a player that could have helped them win.
It was a total waste.

That and the fact that Mallett was not a top tier talent to begin with.
garoppolo is a much different situation.

I think he is franchise level.
I think he can be the guy 10 years from.

And the timing makes more sense now.
Just about the time his rookie contract runs out is about the time that the Brady era will end.
By that time he will have several years in the system.

This is more of an Aaron Rodgers type deal when Favre was still in Green Bay type situation.

I don't think any GB fans are complaining about the Pack not drafting a player at another position during Favres time to help with that window.

when you start a thread and headline it with Manning, Brady, and Brees, you pretty much lose me.. Brees does not belong on the same page with them.. Rodgers yes and maybe even Big Ben...You lose even more credibility counting 5k achievements...
