Do you consider Chris Bosh a superstar? You must, cause you called Kevin Love a superstar above.
To me max contract does not equal superstar.
I'd say of the active players in the league, the only ones i consider superstar status are Bron, KD, Steph, CP3, Wade, Dirk, Melo, Westbrook.
At the time of their signing with Miami & Cleveland, Love & Bosh were up there putting up huge numbers.
And Kwahi...and I want to say Anthony Davis, but injuries prevent me I guess.
I would say CP3 used to be a Superstar, but no longer is. One can move in and out of Superstar status. Same for Melo. Same for Dirk. As time passes, Dirk will be thought of as a Superstar. Melo probably will too. CP3...not so sure. Fun commercials though...but so did Penny Hardaway.
Regarding ADavis...i don't know what to think. It's no longer a big man's league, but he's not strictly an inside player. He's adapted to the new NBA. If this was the day of Shaq, Robinson, and Olajuwon, I think he'd be a PF...
True superstars stand the test of time. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Shaq, LBJ...
If we are saying there are like 10 superstars in the league currently, it kinda diminishes the word, right?

10 seems reasonable in a 30 team league, right? But of your list, only 5-6 are really Active Superstars. Shaq was always considered a Superstar but he sure as hell wasn't a superstar player his last two years. Same with Bird as he lay on floor at the end of the bench for 3/4's of the season.
Your current Active Superstar's are Lebron, KD, Steph, Kwahi, Westbrook, Harden. Dirk, Melo and Wade will be Superstars again as we look back years from now, CP3 maybe. Anthony Davis and Giannis are on deck. Butler and George end up in the Reggie Miller category.
I suppose it just depends on what each person considers a Star, and what they consider a SuperStar.
In my opinion, a SuperStar is elite, few, and one of the greatest ever.
Some of us believe that the NBA used to be loaded with SuperStars, and that it has dwindled to less & less.
Let me ask you guys this.
If you were a GM, and you had LeBron, would you trade him away for James Harden or any of the other guys mentioned?
I'm pretty sure most would say "Hell No".
That alone tells you that the difference in the players are night & day.
That makes one of them "Super" & the other one a tier below.
Love the discussion & your opinions guys...<><>
When the C's land Butler and Hayward, keep their nucleus and multiple 1st round draft picks, I like the chances of this very young team
If Butler somehow goes to the Cavs, who have NOTHING to offer the Bulls, then the process to compete may take a little longer
I know I'm in the minority, but I feel that Jimmy Butler is a tad overrated.
Kind of in the same way some said about Kevin Love's numbers being inflated in Minnesota.
I think Paul George is much better, for example.
As for Hayward, I think y'all will be looking good if you draft that guy Willie...

maybe Ainge agrees with you, or maybe Butler refused to sign a long term deal, IDK

It was Wade's option, not the team's. But agreed with everything else you said. The Celts better hope that Cleveland doesn't land Butler. Obviously a third team will be needed to make this trade. As a Bulls fan, this sickens me on a few levels. Why would you let your best player go to Cleveland? Why would you resign Wade for $24 mil? Why does the NBA let its players actively try to recruit other players?
