Yes I'm brand spankin new here so be nice alright. I promise to do my best on a daily basis but that is about all I can promise. The rest lies in my abilities as a sports handicapper, God, and of course a little lady luck every once in a while. I have the confidence in myself to know I can get the job done but now I have to earn your confidence in me, and that is what I will try my best to do the only way I know how>>>>>>By picking more winners than losers. Very simple indeed! I hope my time here will be very long and very prosperous and I really hope to make friends with you all. I love to talk sports and angles or trends or whatevers so drop me a line anytime and I will try to do the same in your threads as much as possible. Hopefully none of you will mind but if you do then I apoligize in advance. Thank you all for your time and I look forward to many happy nights together.

Thanks for the reply Brownsfan31 and for the warm welcome. I appreciate both very much. You're an okay guy in my book. Lots of luck to you and your Browns in the future. My team is the 49ers so you shouldn't feel too bad, though our #1 pick could pay dividends in the near future. That Alex Smith seems to be the real deal from all reports coming out of the combines. Personally I'm still not sold on him completely but I pray it all works out and soon. Can't stand seeing my team suffer like this, very far cry from what they once were.

You an AFL guy, an NFL guy, or both? Welcome aboard either way. Note that BrownsFan is really it Pittsburgh Steelers fan... he's my roommate here at Florida State and hates nothing more than the city of Cleveland in general. Then again, I've heard it's a very easy city to hate. For example, the line about the nice thing about playing the Indians... You know you're leaving Cleveland in three days.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply AFLGuru and the great line about Cleveland. I've heard it's not the most pleasant place in the world to say the least but I've never been there so I can't say for certain. Maybe one of these days I'll be lucky enough right? I'm getting married in August, wonder what the bride would think about having our honeymoon there? :lolBIG: Okay maybe not. Anyhow, to answer your question I am a 95-5% NFL guy I must say. I do like watching Arena ball when it's on but I haven't really gotten into the betting and tracking part of it. Not really sure why that is because I'm sure there is good money to be made there just like in the NFL or College. Maybe today might just be the very day I start, what do you think? How are you and your roommate at handicapping it? Judging by your screen name I'd have to lean towards the successful side. Any thoughts or info you got to help me out and get started would be much appreciated. Thanks and the best of luck on all your games.

P.S. Life must be good being a student at Florida State huh? I am ridiculously jealous of the two of you. Man, the girls you must see just walking the campus for one day, heck one hour even, would be enough for me to move to Cleveland for! Well almost. Okay okay enough of the Ohio jokes. They're good people too dammitt.

I have heard nothing but the same about this place TOMMY B. From my understanding this is the spot to go to for information on pretty much any and all aspects of sports betting. I'm just glad I can be a part of it, no matter how small a role I play, and contribute what I have to try and make this place that much more useful and great. As for the Arena league, my experience there is in the lacking category as is it for NFL Europe. I think this is mainly due to the fact that I'm putting a lot of my time and effort towards the other sports (basketball, baseball, etc...) that are going on at the same time as these are. Don't get me wrong, I am a football man and I love it more than any other sport but I've always just sticked to handicapping the NFL and College. Maybe it's about time things changed around here though. I am seriously considering it and any thoughts or advice you may have is more than welcome. Thanks and the best of luck to you in the future my friend.

Your warning... my roommate puts up his "Platinum Plays" at times to mock me. He's not a real AFL capper. Other sports, okay. But for AFL, don't listen to him. They're all jokes. Don't be fooled by his "positive units"... oh, Budworth22 as well. Avoid him and his "100 unit plays" that happen to pay off on 5-1 dogs. I'm the serious AFL capper in my apartment as my record would show. Check out my thread for week 9 and you'll see my track record (I play 1-5 units on a game, so the 40+ units I up in theory should be 40% of your account).

I suggest if you're going to play AFL to follow around myself and TommyB. Tommy's got a system that appears to work very well. As for me? I use some stats that might not be tracked by the average football fan paired with my intuition for the game to come up with my picks. I've found myself to be more successful leaning towards intuition than my statistics, but the stats help. I keep some pretty anal-retentive records for each of these teams and take notes on all of the games. If you don't have a Pinnacle account, I suggest opening one in the next 20 minutes or so, as Pinnacle does the opening lines between 12:00 and 1:00 EST every Tuesday, and that's what I get the majority of my lines from. Also, an Olympic account would be a good thing to have as they open up their lines on Wednesdays around 1:00 EST and usually creates some excellent scalp chances with Pinnacle. But if you don't get your lines early, you're gonna be laying a lot more points, as these lines move like its no one's business literally effective when the lines open... I'm one of the guys hitting F5 on my keyboard every 3 seconds to make sure I get the opening lines myself.

Best of luck.

I appreciate the post AFLGuru, great tips and advice all around. As for this week I missed the opening numbers which you said are important to get because of all the big moves in lines so I think I'll lay low and see how it plays out till next week. This will also give me some time to game-plan for this new sport of interest as well. Very excited about the outlook though and with your help and the help of the trusted others here I'm thinking this could be a success. Thanks and good luck on your plays for this week. You're gonna do great and make me regret not jumping aboard right now.

Been tailing you and Tommy B, as like Mystic AFL is new to me..strickly a NFL player.

As I am new to computers what do you mean by hitting the F5 key rapidly..I will be opening an account at Pinnacle..I have not been using off-shore as living in Vegas i just shop around for best line..will contribute during the NFL..in the interim continued success..i like the way you hit the opening lines..many opportunities to middle off the Pinnacle opening line..you must set your lines prior to the opening as i do in the NFL.

Hitting F5 constantly is just a way of saying that I'm constantly hitting refresh on my browser, waiting for the lines to open. Setting lines ahead of time is the key to all of this, as you need to know what's there for the hitting before it gets slammed. However, I keep trying to convince people... The amount of times that I actually can hit a middle on these games is very rare. Unless you are someone just in the business of scalping games, don't try it here. It'll end up costing you more money than you could have had just betting the games. Just trust me. I've preached it all season, and my spreads and totals are hitting at near 64% for the year. So before you go off playing middles, please be advised of that.
