Trump painstakingly built the narrative that this was going to be a change election, Biden the incumbent vs Trump the change agent. The democrats strung Trump along for 3 years knowing the whole time Biden was going to drop out. The democrats waited til Trumps convention was over and JD Vance was locked in. Then Boom they sprang the trap Biden stepped aside and all of a sudden Trump was the incumbent and Harris is the change agent. Now Trump is the old man facing a much younger energetic opponent who is promising change while Trump is stuck with incumbency and all the baggage that goes with it. Now throw in J6 and 34 felony convictions and Trump is guaranteed to lose 3-5% of the republican vote he got in 2020.
Harris raised 500 mil in July and was pulling in 1mil per hour during the convention. Not surprised if she passes the 500 mil mark in August. Meanwhile the GOP is struggling to pull in 50 mil for the month.
Reagan didn't really bury Carter until October, after the debates when Americans gained confidence that Reagan was acceptable and not a California lunatic.
