I agree you need to pay attention. However there are a LOT of clerks who have sub-decent english. Even talking to them face to face in english its hard enough. I believe its UP TO THE CLERK to put in the correct wager, as stated earlier that is the only thing they are being paid to do. If the CUSTOMER says dodgers 3 times and the clerk fucks it up well i think its clear.
Then let me ask u this Al, what is the purpose of the readback? A minority of tricky customers like to confuse clerks, so they can play both sides.... Ive seen it happen, thats the reason of the final readback confirmation, but I insist, its a minority of people who do this
To have the clerk REPEAT himself (or herself) before inputting the bet. 99% of he time the customer is watching the game and isn't even listening to the read back. The read back is so the clerk can confirm for a second time they are inputting the correct bet in case they may have mistakenly picked the wrong time that the very customer that said, "Oakland A's" two times, gets the Oakland A's.
That is why at MOST books, when a customer hangs up the bosses want you to continue with the read back. To ENSURE you have inputted the correct bet and have the final words of what the clerk interpreted the bet as. So when customer Joe calls back and the tape clearly has him with The Oakland A's at -105, but on the read back the clerk says the wrong bet and inputted the wrong bet. Dummy clerk can get a write-up for surfing Youporn.com, rather than taking the proper bet.

My case involves credit players, not post up. Customer is always right in 99% of these cases. As Mr. Quinn mentioned, these are guys you have had playing with you for 10-25 years, loyal fuckers. They wouldn't fuck you over on a three dollar play. Maybe a 3-5 dimes play they might try and catch the clerk sleeping, or get a bigger play on an added game, but most of these guys can afford to lose $250. They just want to keep the shop honest which I respect.

The final readback does not really count because many clerks don't even listen or pay attention to what they type on the computer, on the other hand many good clerks do it right and try and get screwed by a guy who lost all his money in one day, but thats why you listen to tapes ,because the final readback is only to becareful that you dont screw it
If a player does it many times (claims) then he is flagged and looses his right to a dispute!!
BTW , how many actually listen to the readback at macdonalds? fuck that!! i want my order and i want it now, that said I think you understand!!
