The same with Christmas, which has pagan origins...

As do the origins of Heaven, hell, prophecy, baptism, sacrifice, communion with God, the Holy Spirit, monotheism, immortality of the soul and lest we forget the spooky daemon possession. Sounds to me that Christianity is like the spreading of the west coast offense over the years. Sure there are variations and some run it better then others but it all leads back to Bill Walsh. In this case, Walsh is the Pagans. Christianity is probably Mike Holmgren. Relevant and inspiring and a champion at one point but now fading fast and soon to be out of a job.

BTW Bill Hicks was a funny man.

I don't know whether it's funny or sad that you're totally missing the point Dawkins was trying to make.

I'll throw you a bone. When viewed in context, it's obvious to any clear thinking person that Dawkins was pointing out the fact that if there was an intelligence behind our design, it doens't necessarily have to be from a god.

It's not that hard.

Or maybe it is...for you.

Richard Dawkins (prominent proponent of the religion of Darwinism):

"Humans have always wondered about the meaning of life...
life has no higher purpose than to perpetuate the survival of DNA...
life has no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but
blind pitiless indifference."

For the record - this is exactly what I believe.
I cannot say that I like it very much, neither do I like the fact that I will simply cease to exist when I die. But things are like they are and I just cannot bring myself to believe in something irrational just to make life easier by ignoring the facts.

Until the day that God got pissed and murdered every single one of them and their children with a giant Flood except for eight lucky winners of the Old Testament Golden Ticket who after the Flood started up with all the incesteous sex again and somewhere along the line one of them was designated as the new black guy and that's when they all lived happily ever after

You forgot the part that every known species of animal lived within walking distance of Noah's Last Chance Shipyard and 40 Day Kennel.

DEAC, when did you have time to drop in on ZIT's church and snag this photo image off their entryway wall?

Our resident cult hopper trying again to make fun of Christianity.

Oh the irony.

The founders of Barman's kooky cult were
Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. Charles thought that:

In his later years, Fillmore felt so young that he thought that he might be physically immortal, as well as believing that he might be the reincarnation of Paul of Tarsus.

This kooky cult, believes there is no such thing as evil, sin, and death.
They are just figments of your imagination. All you have to do if you are
sick, is close your eyes and believe it's not true, and *poof*, magic,
you are healed!!

Fillmore also taught that human souls get recycled through lower animal
life forms. Imagine the kooky kool-aid you have to drink to believe this
shit?

Barman in my opinion, is seriously the biggest hypocrite I've met in
online forums. He admits to being a cult hopper, but yet tries to make
fun of Christian doctrine ad nauseum.

He also chided JoeC over and over because he thought Joe spent too
much time posting in the Politics forum, but then Barman stalked him
for months, even creating accounts in other forums so that Barman could
reply to every one of JoeC's posts.

I outed Barman for doing this on www.eog.com.

Dear Barman, I also know you read my posts - and then lie about it
claiming that you have me on ignore. You are just as obsessed with me
as you were JoeC.

Get some help cult-hopping hypocrite.

Richard Dawkins, whom the religious followers of the religion
of Darwinism worship, has this to say about Intelligent Design:

BEN STEIN: What do you think is the possibility that Intelligent Design might turn out to be the answer to some issues in genetics or in evolution.

DAWKINS: Well, it could come about in the following way. It could be that at some earlier time, somewhere in the universe, a civilization evolved, probably by some kind of Darwinian means, probably to a very high level of technology, and designed a form of life that they seeded onto perhaps this planet. Now, um, now that is a possibility, and an intriguing possibility. And I suppose it's possible that you might find evidence for that if you look at the details of biochemistry, molecular biology, you might find a signature of some sort of designer.

==============================================

BWHAHAHAAHHA. Aliens coming and blowing their sperm on earth, creating
life as we know it. You can't make this shit up!!!!

:nohead::nohead::nohead::nohead::nohead:

Note, that Dawkins is not the first atheist to be so flummoxed at
the origin of life (and so anti-God) that they turned to aliens.

Sir Francis Crick, who along with James Watson discovered the double-helix structure of DNA. He found it so complex that in his book, Life Itself, Crick proposed that the basic genetic structure of bacterial DNA was seeded from outer space.

You can't make this shit up.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Looney Darwinists can't even think straight.

This is the problem with being a half educated ignoramus..(boy i love that word.)

This fella is so dumb he doesnt even know that many many evolutionists actually argue origins of life were basically seeded on this planet. (they call it stardust..instead of the sperm you so prudishly mentioned)

Not a single scientist has ever proven the origin of life or how it came to earth.

But because you are a dumb half educated fool running around with half truths and myths you mistakenly confuse with scientific fact, you actually find it plausible to laugh at any one person's idea of the beginning of life on this planet!

I will ask..(but i know i wont get an answer..) where do you think life came from on this planet. Can you provide us with some facts, proof, evidence, experimentation that will put that question to rest so we may join in laughing at those dorks who believe in aliens, or god or whatever!

you gotta be kidding me!

"Humans have always wondered about the meaning of life...
life has no higher purpose than to perpetuate the survival of DNA...
life has no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but
blind pitiless indifference."

Did you just say you are a rational person who believes in fact and then right after you said you believe that crap?

Seriously is there any rationale of even anything remotely resembling fact in that sentence?

Jeez!!! To you hitler must be an exemplary human being! definately no shred of evil in him. Cant blame him for what he is because its nature's fault he was that way... right?
he wasnt good, definately not evil, he just existed to propagate DNA..(but yet some how killed off his own off spring.)

you are a joke!:drink:

Piccolo - I'm afarid you totally misunderstood both Dawkins' quote and my post.

What Dawkins says (and I agree with) is not more and not less than that there is no higher meaning in life, we don't exist for a purpose other than replicating ourselves.
This does, of course, not mean that we are not responsible for our actions.

Really, you may want to make sure that you understand what people say before you attack them in such fashion, this is entirely unnecessary.

No bro. I completely understood what you said! And i stand by my response. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that this fella Dawkins is the final word and that his arguments or ideas automatically qualify as fact and proven science. This is why you mistakenly believe that you are being rational and using fact to base your beliefs upon.

That is my point exactly. Dawkins isnt god so to speak. And his ideas arent the end all of science.

If you believe what he says, please feel free to do so. But please dont come on here with the bogus notion that your beliefs are rooted in fact or rational thinking for that matter. You are no different than the guy who believes, in god, aliens, evolution. None of you have any facts or evident to prove the origin of life. All of you are guessing and making assumptions along the way.

Regarding the issue of being responsible for our actions. Sorry but that argument is not cohesive to the rest of your beliefs! You are more or less reducing man down to simple molecules and proteins. No different than an ape or other animal!
He should thus be able to kill, or do whatever heinous actions he pleases just to "propagate" his DNA.

How can any one even be responsible for anything if they have no higher meaning in life?

Look, it's quite simple. Mankind has searched for a meaning of its existence since the beginning but did not come up with any rational answer. Neither have all researches yielded any rational signs that an afterlife exists.
I was raised an atheist but would have gladly converted to a religion because that might have made life easier. However, much as I tried I couldn't find anything that contradicts the atheists viewpoints. That is why I believe there is no higher meaning in life and we will simply cease to exist after death, not because Dawkins says so. Actually I must admit that I didn't even know Dawkins.

I'm sorry, but you have apparently no idea what you are talking about.
I am not reducing man to molecules and proteins, tell me where I said so. Even "apes and other animals" are obviously more than the sum of their bio-chemical parts. No-one claims that our genes totally control our actions and decisions. All I'm saying is that our lives don't serve a special purpose, nobody except ourselves cares if mankind exists or not.
And why the ... should the absence of a higher meaning in life have any influence on personal responsibility?

Really, you don't make much sense.
