is going through the member directory... there's a sh!t ton of people who haven't logged in for years... since 1969... this has got to be inaccurate, right?

there seems to be a millions ghosts also, with the birthday of NOV 30. can someone explain to me wtf is going on and why we don't just erase them from the db?

i'm bored on XMAS morning, still up from last nite.

i have checked that list before. it would be easier to go through if they deleted all the non posters.

good to see a fellow late nighter... has this question ever been raised? i mean at least kill all the people who have "NOV 30" as their bday... send them an email and ask to verify within a few months or they will be deleted. i think that would be beneficial.

November 30th and the year 1969 are both default dates for posters who have had zero activity since before September of 2004..

In September of 2004 all registered members started fresh as far as join date and post count go because of a server upgrade. At that time and since then if posters know what their actual join date and post count accurately is a moderator is able to change those numbers to what a particular poster says are accurate numbers for his or her join date and make a change upon official request. If you look through old member profiles long enough you will see an inordinate number of September 2004 join dates. Some posters really don't care about post counts or join dates and have left the default date of September 2004 stand.

Occasionaly I will get an email from an old time poster who would like to resore his join date and approximate post count, verifying that informatiom is not easy and can be time consuming but it is not impossible.

The Rx. today is more concerned about it's active posters, some new, some old, and some like myself going on 4 or 5 years as an active poster. There is no charge or obligation attached to being an active or inactive poster, all an old inactive poster does is occucpy an exclusive to them only user name, eg. there can be only one exact poster named Wilheim, but the join date and post counts are not exclusive.

Right now The Rx has aproximately 1500 registered users that login from time to time and between 5,000 amd 10,000 lurkers that are apt to be online at any giving time. Natrually all of those members combined are never all online at the same moment. The online user window lasts 2 hours by that I mean if you login at 7AM on December 25th and do not do anything, such as open a forum, make a post, open a thread, do a search etc. etc. Just login and wait -- after two hours your user name will dissappear off the online users list on the forum front page. Any kind of activity such as opening a thread will start the two hour online clock all over again.

Natrually if you log off your user name will also dissappear from the online user list. Just turning off your computer or closing your Rx. window or windows will not unlog you. The two hour inactive window still must pass before a user name is no longer visible in the currently who is online box.

Thanks for taking the take to write back Wil! I can tell it's late or that you're tired because you slurred some words... but I appreciate the response!

Sorry for any typos ot slurring, no excuses. Sometime with a longer post like the one above I type a draft and then go back and edit in as many corrections as possible.

wil..

PS. Sometime around 5 AM on Christmas morning these kind of "fishy question" explanations can give a guy a headache.

Jesus fucking christ on Christmas.

Tell me you didn't ask that, tell me that isn't a question mark.

It's obviously accurate. It was in Vegas, before internet and personal computers. A giant mega computer the size of a house but the capacity of a modern day calculator. Fishhead, Journeyman, and Wil actually lived inside it for weeks on end living on almost no food or rest. If you wanted to post something you had to call in and they put it in manually. Ah, 1969 a great year for the Rx.

:lolBIG: The procedure we use to have to go thru just to post a message back then was a process in itself.
