It's midnight and 85 degrees in Tempe, AZ. The next three days should be 100 to 102. Wonder how that will affect the Cardinal / Seahawk game?

Yeah, but it's a dry heat.

I always say you have to take off 10 - 15 degrees from the temp in the desert to get the equivalent to the temp elsewhere. So 85 degrees in Tempe would feel like 70 - 75 elsewhere.

Now temps in Sun Devil Stadium at 100 degrees translates into about 120 degrees on the field. I'm sure it will have an effect.

They usually make the Cards wait until week 3 to play and then its a night game. Strange they got a week 2 spot and in the afternoon. Thing to remember about the desert is that it just gets hotter as the day goes on. At 1pm when it kicks off it will be quite warm, but 3-4pm will be even warmer. Since the Cards are practicing in it all the time and the Hawks are not, have to give the Cards a fairly good edge in this respect. As for the equivalent temp, don't kid yourself. Weather.com lists those "feels like" temps and its almost uniformly only 2-3 degrees under what the air temp is, when it was a "dry heat" 116 in Vegas, the "feels like" temp was 113. What a relief that was

WildBill:

Perhaps the Weather Channel is talking about being in the sun when talking about equivalent heats. I've lived in the desert for 6 years and I've lived other places for almost 40 years so I'm not talking out my ass here. It's a matter of personal feeling for me. Your mileage may vary.
