Here is what ESPiN thinks the CFB conference realignment should or perhaps will look like.
I they missed the boat in a few places.
Here's the article that goes with it.

The next Big 12 meetings start May 31 in Dallas and will include the university
presidents and chancellors. Ultimately, the decision will be made at the presidential
level at each school, with plenty of input from Athletic Directors. I believe additions
are coming................

Expansion does the B12 no good unless they stole someone from ACC (Clem/FSU/VT) or Pac12 (Zona Schools). Other than that, there is no expansion that would benefit the conference other than to water down the content and lower the TV Payouts.
With respect to LHN...UT holds all the cards. Why would they give up $8-$15Mil a year + TV payouts from the league to benefit the rest of the teams. Imagine living in a subdivision with your neighbors and you had high speed internet, huge download/upload with fiber optic lines, enables you to run your business from home, stream media, etc, and keep the kids happy. Meanwhile the other neighbors were only able to get dialup AOL with a modem. Top speed of 56k. Now, the neighbors come to you and ask you to give up HS internet for the sake of the subdivision. That's what UT is dealing with. They have a business/program to run. Its why they aren't in the PAC12

Do you have any idea how much longer the LHN contract goes with ESPN? I would think unless there is a huge turnaround, ESPN will want to drop it like a hot potato once the contract expires..

I believe it was a 20yr deal with a 250-300mil guarantee. Not sure how rights fees and start up costs figure in that number.

20 years, what was ESPN thinking?

It's a tad long but other tv deals are in the 12-15 year range. Perhaps it's no shock that ESPN is laying people off by the hundreds? In contrast the Big Ten's newest deal is said to be only for 6 years.

Ya gotta love Texas. They have single-handedly ruined the SWC, the Big 12 and now ESPN. They have the golden touch. ESPN can only blame themselves. You don't give that long of a contract to a whole conference, much less an individual team. The Texas attorneys must have been selling some good snake oil the day they drew up that contract...So far that $300 million contract has been a $55-60 million loss and counting because of poor ratings. You would think they would have an out clause somewhere in there. But I haven't read the fine print...

You're right again Sooner. Those Longhorns do have "big balls".......Maybe it is time for (outright) rebellion......kind-of-like the rest of the B-12 telling Texas they should form a "league of their own" sort of like the women did with Baseball during the World War ll or.....Go independent like ND.....

It doesn't surprise me to find that UT's greed and lust for power go hand in hand. I've not heard of any business plan that goes unchecked and then ultimately becomes just a big suck to the degree the Longwhorns have. If it's true that Oklahoma and Okie Lite will bolt and put the B-12 out of business beyond even what Texas and ESPN can afford to fix, then I hope it happens soon.

I'm really curious of what would happen to the other 8 Big 12 schools if OU/Kansas left together...Start another conference, or total realignment of the 4 remaining conferences?

Total realignment...

The LHN is like a bad Charlie Weis contract. It's the gift that keeps on giving. ESPN has lost over 7 million viewers in the last year and is killing Disney's stock as well. http://awfulannouncing.com/2016/disney-misses-analysts-targets-thanks-to-espn-stock-takes-a-hit.html

Ha ha. The same site has an article from last month that estimates the Big Ten payout by 2018, might be nearing 60 million. And we can thank ESPN for that because if was their "we're the big dog" low-ball offer in 2004 that prompted the BTN into formation.....hell, we might draw some parallels with the BTN and LHN to just put all this conference realignment dogshit mess on their doorstep.

I heard on a local radio sports talk show that Arizona and Arizona State might be in
play for the Big 12. I got in on the tail end of the discussion and not sure why the
two Arizona schools were being promoted other than they were not happy with the
Pac 12.

Anyone have any knowledge of the Big 12 having any interest? Or, Arizona or State
having any interest. Also, why are these two schools disenchanted with the Pac 12
as being reported?

No way the Zona schools leave. Who would be fool enough to leave a solid Power 5 conference where you are getting a nice cushy payout to go join the shakiest conference in the country with no guarantees of their future or that they can even match what they are making now? These same kind of rumors have been floating around the last few years about Arkansas leaving the SEC to come to the Big 12. They aren't fools. No Power 5 schools are going to take that gamble. The only schools left for the Big 12 to bring in are mid majors and BYU if they change their religion...

The Mormons will never do it (change their religion)....They're very set in their ways............and they can be feisty as all get-out. Try dating a Mormon woman
some time; I did back in the late 50's. You have to "hang-on" for dear life.

You should have married her Mack. You could have converted to her religion and be happily married with 5 wives today...

I don't think you are permitted to gamble on Sundays either.
