Texas Holdem Card hand/winner question???
Hi, I just started playing Texas Holdem with my friends (beginners) and I have a question about who wins a particular hand. I do not know the poker language quite yet so I am gonna just lay it out and use two names. MIKE and SCOTT
Scott had: 10 diamonds and 4 of diamonds
Mike had: 8 diamonds and 6 of diamonds
The 5 cards on the table are:
Queen diamonds, 5 diamonds, 2 diamonds, 10 spades, king clubs
WHO WINS??? Both players have a flush diamonds, but Scott has a 10 which is higher than Mikes 8. SO does Scott win? Or is it a push and both split the pot? Is it a push because the QUEEN OF DIAMONDS is higher than both Scotts and Mikes highest card? I am confused on that. Can sombody explain that to me.
Also, is there a site on the net that explains these rules? I looked and could not find anything. It was real difficult. I appreciate your help.
Lets say this is QUESTION #2.
Scott has Jack diamonds and 3 clubs
Mike has 9 spades and 2 spades
5 cards on table: King of hearts, 8 clubs, 5 hearts, 4 hearts, 4 clubs
Does Scott win because his Jack is higher than Mikes 9? Or is it a split because the KING on the table is higher than both Scott's and Mikes higheest card. So both players split pot? Please explain this to me too. Sort of similar to the question above but different scenario.
When answering my questions, just refer to Q1 or Q2 so i know which one your answering. Thanks for your help, hopefully someone helps explain this to me. Thanks again.
