In and of itself, no biggie, but I must laugh at the technically inept person who let this go through:
Investigators believe cell members were using a process called stenography, in which special software allows a text message to be hidden inside a small part of a computer photograph.
"Stenography" as most grade school shildren know, is the technique by which secretaries and legal clerks use shorthand notation to take dictation for later "translation" into a printed document such as a letter or transcript. I have a feeling that they meant to say "steganography," which is the fascinating process of encrypting messages by inserting them as bits of data into sound and picture files.
Encryption being a bit of a hobby of mine I use steganography for encrypting some things on my website, so that people who work with me can simply click on the picture, download it and decrypt the message stored therein. To learn more about this very cool way to stick it to the man, I recommend 4t Niagara's HIT Mail Privacy which is very easy to use without actually being versed in the ways and means of encryption.
