i sense his agent is about to get an ass chewing out:
Take Terrell Owens off the free-agent market.
One day after it was learned that Browns wide receiver Dennis Northcutt would not become a free agent because of a mistake by his agent, it turns out Owens' agent did the same and as a result, he will not be a free agent either.
Owens and his agent David Joseph failed to send in the proper paperwork and void his deal. Rather than becoming a free agent he now has another three years remaining with the San Francisco 49ers.
Calls to Owens' cell phone by SportsLine.com were not returned.
Owens was slated to become a free agent next week. The perennial Pro Bowl player told SportsLine.com in February that he was looking forward to joining a new team, confident his days in San Francisco were over.
In the past six years Owens failed to reach the 1,100 yards just once. Last year he broke his collarbone yet still showed up for the Pro Bowl. He has had seasons of 1,300, 1,412 and 1,451 yards receiving. He has also averaged less than 13 yards per catch just once in his career.
With Northcutt and Owens both off the open market now, Seattle's Darrell Jackson becomes the clear-cut top receiver available via unrestricted free agency.
