Tennessee vs Pittsburgh on 09/10 by disciplineddegen

Tennessee Volunteers @ Pittsburg Panthers
OPEN: TENN -5, 64

Two completely opposite football philosophies come together in Pittsburgh when the lightning fast paced Tennessee Volunteers face the traditional power-nosed Pittsburgh Panthers football team.

Pitt overcame an emotional win against long-time rival West Virginia in a game which was decided by a pick-six with under three minutes left. The Panthers allowed the Mountaineers to rush for 190 yards on 33 attempts (avg. 5.8 ypc).

Tennessee had a scrimmage at home against the Cardinals from Ball State where they put up 59 points, 569 offensive yards with their starters playing the first half of the second series. Tennessee showed some concerns on defense allowing Ball State to connect on many quick passes where the Vols defense gave up too much space. Additionally, the pressure from Tennessee’s defensive line was almost nonexistent netting zero sacks.

Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi has been very complementary towards the Tennessee offense leading up to this game. In interviews he’s talked about their efficiency and effectiveness. I look for him to put together a game plan which tries to disrupt this offensive flow. Tennessee, I believe, welcomes that challenge.

In many high-caliber games, football is about match-ups and this match-up does not favor Pitt. Tennessee will still go with a lightning-fast pace on offense and will give up some points on defense, but I don’t see Pitt’s offense being able to keep up with the Vols. I think Tennessee is looking for revenge from last year. Tennessee is better than last year, Pittsburgh isn’t as good as they were last year.
